Ironhead Studios Dishes On Their Unused Design For The Titular Villain Of X-MEN: APOCALYPSE

Ironhead Studios created an awesome design for Apocalypse that went unused in Bryan Singer's sixth X-Men film. It's definitely a more comic book accurate look for the self-proclaimed Mutant Messiah.

Adam Savage's (Mythbusters) Tested, caught up with Ironhead Studios founder Jose Fernandez who gave his reaction to seeing the design for Apocalypse that 20th Century Fox and Bryan Singer picked over his concept. "What happened was I was actually in the running for the job. Another company won the bid,   but as bummed as I was - because I really wanted to showcase what I could do,  I worked with [another] designer to do almost every other costume in the film so I had my hands full, so I was okay [with losing Apocalypse]."

Following his decidedly purplish debut in Entertainment Weekly, Apocalypse has looked a lot closer to comic book depictions but the above image looks as if it was literally ripped from the page.  However, the success of the film will depend on how the character functions and is portrayed by Oscar Isaac, not necessarily how he looks.  If the film captures the menacing ambivalence of the world's first mutant, fans are likely to forgive a little artistic liberty.
