Marvel Boss Kevin Feige Shares His Thoughts On Fox's X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

Marvel Studios' role in what Twentieth Century Fox does with the X-Men is almost nonexistant, and there appeared to be some animosity (at least in the eyes of fans) over the dual use of Quicksilver in the Avengers and X-Men franchises. So, what did Kevin Feige make of Days of Future Past? Well...

He liked it as much as the rest of us! While Guardians of the Galaxy is the highest grossing movie of 2014 domestically, you have to believe that Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios have taken note of the fact that X-Men: Days of Future Past is the superhero movie which earned more than any other worldwide this year. It's ultimately unlikely to have much of an impact of how Marvel does things (they have more than enough $1 billion hits under their belts to not feel even a little bit threatened after all), but Feige admits that Bryan Singer's "inbetweenquel" is a movie he's been giving a lot of thought to. "I've been thinking about Days of Future Past a lot, which I had nothing to do with, in terms of the resurrection of a franchise. I think they did a very good job with that." Interestingly, Feige would then point out a couple of non-Marvel Studios threequels that he obviously doesn't have a very high opinion of (just like the rest of us). "On Iron Man 3, I thought a lot about X-Men 3 and Spider-Man 3 and I thought a lot about Toy Story 3, and how to avoid falling into threequelitis, which is why we went down a lot of the roads we went down on that movie." How do you guys think X-Men: Days of Future Past matched up to Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy and The Amazing Spider-Man 2?

Or maybe he's using Toy Story 3 as an example of a good threequel. Either way it should be known that I adore Toy Story 3.

I'm sure he meant he thought of bad threequels like X3 and SM3 and good threequels like Toy Story 3. I haven't met anyone who didn't like Toy Story 3.

Toy Story 3 is amazing. I definitely like it way more than Iron Man 3. Also, I don't dislike The Last Stand and Spiderman 3 for what they were, I dislike them for what they should have been.

all the jokes in Iron Man 3 went way overboard. i put the first two Iron Man movies over this, yes even Iron Man 2 because it was the first MCU I saw in theaters.

Sad that the studios can't come to the slightest agreement to make all these franchises tie together for the Infibity Gauntlet film. But again, most people prefer MCU to have only their solid properties aboard such a broad franchise as theirs. I don't blame em...

But for now:

Bring on the APOCALYPSE

Toy Story 3 is one of the exceptions. The third movie is RARELY the best, and more than often the worst. It's been happening for a long time. Aside from X-3 and SM3, there was Iron Man 3, TDKR, Terminator 3, Matrix Revolutions, Jurassic Park 3, TMNT 3, Back To The Future 3, and probably a lot more. And I know someone is gonna come here and say that one or more of those was his favorite, and my response to that is: No.

Toy Story is easily one of the best movie trilogies in recent memory. Right up there with the classics, IMO.

And Iron Man 3 is also easily one of the best third movies out there as well. Flawed, yet admirably risky. It did a TON of things right that gets overshadowed by a gutsy plot twist. Trying to say that Iron Man 2 is better is...an exaggeration, at best.

And I honestly STILL don't know what to make of Days of Future Past. Is that out on Blu-ray yet? I might have to give it another watch or 2.

"How do you guys think X-Men: Days of Future Past matched up to Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy and The Amazing Spider-Man 2?"

4. The Amazing Spider-Man 2
3. X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST
2. Guardians of the Galaxy
1. Captain America: The Winter Soldier

"Yeah, the way I read this, he's definitely using Toy Story 3 as an example of a good threequel in comparison to two terrible ones!"

Agreed. I'd like to hear how Feige stated that sentence, because there's no way he's lumping that together with Spider-Man 3 or X-3. Toy Story 3 is a gem.

Toy Story 3 is the best of that trilogy.

Spider-Man 3 and X-Men: Last Stand are the worst of their respective trilogies.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is by far the best X-Men film to date.

Nuff said.
