Zack Snyder's uber macho hard-R adaptation of Frank Miller's eponymous graphic novel 300 was the sleeper hit of 2007, turning a gritty midbudget action fantasy film into a wildly profitable global blockbuster that made him an instant superstar director. The then-unknown Gerard Butler, playing ruthless Spartan warrior king Leonidas in an above-the-title star billing role, achieved iconic status due to his testosterone-fuelled alpha male performance, killer one-liners and shockingly violent actions scenes where he brutally decapitated and dismembered enemy soldiers.

Building on 300's success, Snyder would go on to helm not just Alan Moore's famed Watchmen but also become the architect of Warner Brother's DCEU. But 300 is undoubtedly the film that gave Snyder essentially a lifetime pass to make any films he wants.

Snyder's masterpiece has been available on Blu-Ray since its 2007 release but to many fans' dismay never made its debut on the higher resolution 4K UHD format before even though his newer films are already available.

This changes now as with a release date of October 6th, 2020, the movie has become available for pre-order and we have a first look at the brand new cover art as well as a motion poster shared by Snyder. Extra features include deleted scenes, director's commentary from Snyder, production webisodes, and documentary material about the real-life Spartans.

Are you excited about the release and will you upgrade your copy? Let us know in the comments section below.

For any mods out there - Can someone check the images? I can never get the images to work in the editor.

300 remains Snyder's best film, and arguably his most influential one. The striking imagery, the unforgettable action, even the homoerotic bits of it. All the stuff that makes Snyder such a niche director work so well in this film alone.

@Necropolitan - It is his most controlled film. He was in charge of every single element. And every element worked. I feel with the DCEU films he has not always been in control.

@KingLeonidas - It was also a movie that followed page by page and shot by shot the source, which is something that can't happen once he actually has control (like Sucker Punch which was written, produced and directed by ZS).

I would have liked seeing the Justice Leage fighting the parademons with those fast-slow-fast shots or something like the train scene on Suckerpunch, or Night Owl and Silk Spectre fighting their way trought the prisión 😓

F*cking loved this movie as a teenager when it came out. A decade later, I rewatched it cuz I was on that Greek mythos/history high while playing AC: Odyssey. Boy did it lost all its charms on me. It was all form and no substance. What a drag.

The best Snyder movies are Watchmen:Ultimate Cut and 300.

Haven't seen Dawn Of The Dead.
