Howard Gordon Offers An Update On The Status Of 24 Movie Adaptation!
The hit TV show (which has indeed had a few comic book series' based on it!) has been rumored to be on its way to the big screen for a while now, and here is a revealing update courtesy of showrunner Howard Gordon...
It's now been well over a year since Fox cancelled 24 after eight seasons, but talk of a big screen adaptation has been ongoing since before that decision was even made! While star Kiefer Sutherland has expressed interest in reprising the role of Jack Bauer, all we've really heard about the planned movie is TALK! Well, here's some more of that courtesy of showrunner Howard Gordon, who talked to The Hollywood Reporter at Thursday's Television Critics Association’s summer press tour.
Apparently, conversations are "definitely happening" with regards to bring 24 to the big screen even now. "There’s an institutional desire to do it. I know Kiefer wants to do it, we all want to do it. It’s just about finding the right script and not just doing it to do it. It’s something that I think if it doesn’t happen, I will not be heartbroken." I’m very proud of that run and how it ended. It was very hard to get it to the finish line with some kind of grace in closure. Why mess it up? But if you find the right story..."
Hmm, as I'm sure my fellow 24 fans will remember, the way in which the show ended was a pretty blatant set up for some sort of continuation to Jack Bauer's story! "I miss the character terribly and I know Kiefer does, too," he said, revealing that the movie would take place abroad and expand to more than just 24 hours. Let's keep our fingers crossed, eh?
