Daniel Craig has played James Bond across four movies now, and his fifth and final appearance as Ian Fleming's iconic spy will be in November's No Time to Die. While 007 is a dream role for any actor, the always outspoken Brit couldn't help but admit that there were other heroes he always hoped to play as a youngster.
"People are always saying to me, 'You must have dreamed of playing James Bond when you were a kid.' The answer is no. I never did," Craig confessed. "I dreamed of being all sorts of other things – Superman, Spider-Man, the Invisible Man, even a good old-fashioned cowboy. But Bond so much, which seems ironic now."
He got to play a cowboy in Jon Favreau's Cowboys & Aliens, but we've yet to see Craig in a major superhero role (it's not too late!).
Now, as Craig looks to say goodbye to a character he's playing since the mid-2000s, he admits to being grateful for having had the chance to play Bond. "I've been lucky enough to land one of the best roles in movies. There’s been no downside to playing Bond."
"I’m pretty sure I can play just about anything," he said, looking ahead to his post-No Time to Die acting career. "Yeah. I’m pretty sure I can, or at least I can make a f**ing good fist of it."
We're hoping that No Time to Die won't be delayed again, and that things will return to normal by November. Not even 007 is able to defeat COVID-19, so stay safe and wash your hands!
