The ever unreliable UK tabloid, The Sun, has posted amongst casting rumors of Rachel Weisz, that the title of the 23rd Bond film will be Red Sky At Night.

Bleeding Cool, while trying to confirm the rumor, uncovered a forum post on Bond fan site ajb007 that corroborates The Sun's claim:

Hi, new here guys, nice to find such a cool site. Im close friends with an art director in the film industry, i wont mention his name but he has worked closely with production designer Michael Carlin and is about to start work in Canada on Kal-El, the next Superman movie. He was busy in 2010 on Bond 23 before it went into hiatus. He told me that the movie for a while had the code name Red Shadow, but when official documentation and the script arrived it contained the title Red Sky At Night and as such was reffered to as this by Sam Mendes, Michael Carlin and the producers and the studio etc. I think its a pretty cool title myself though out of the two Red Shadow is better i think though Red Sky At Night has a classic Bond Movie ring to it. he also said that filming would have been done in Ontario, Canada and there was a large stunt involving the Ontario Tower as well as a huge hockey game and skiing/winter sports sequences. What do you guys think?

Personally, I'm not too convinced, although Canada would be a new setting for the franchise. I'd take this with a huge grain of salt and all that.

Also, "Kal-El, the next Superman movie" thing, perhaps the production name for the Synder film?

hahaha as a Canadian I can confirm that a James Bond film set here would be duller than watching paint dry....biggest reveal that this is fake...plus the Sun prints made up stories all the time it's a UK tabloid rag...yes it's also the same paper that claimed Cher would be Catwoman...

the Bond fansite debunked this along with CinemaBlend...

Hey new memeber to the site....i'm from the UK and i agree that what The Sun posts is usually 99% bullshit.

However on the subject of Bond visiting Canada...at the end of 'Quantum of Solace' he speaks to a Canadian Secret Agent saying "you have a leak in your department, i recommend you alert them immediately". So Canada could be a location in the next flick i guess, but anyone could guess up a script and location with this knowledge....

Probably just a rumor, but I like the title,Red Sky At Night. Property Of A Lady is awesome too. P.S, Kal -El as a Superman title is pretty awesome.

fake....

@ChristopherM - A lot of movies do some shots in Canada man... and they turn out fine so let it go...

@ChrisMcLellan - calm the [frick] down dude and stop makin the rest of Canada look like a bunch of ignorant flag worshippers... we're all proud to be Canadian but tone it down a little...

@ChrisMcLellan I'm not sure if it's "your country" didn't know you were the Queen..lol you're also in no position to tell anyone to get out of it

@Xandera there's a difference between a film being shot in Canada and being set in Canada... Scott Pilgrim being the only exception to the rule... yes lots of movies are shot in Canada but they are setup to look like places in the States...Incredible Hulk, X-Men 1-3, Watchmen, 300 ect....

I think it would be an "epic fail" if they tried to make Canada a Bond location...it's a dull setting overall at least I'm able to admit to it..lol the Sun article seems to be just day-dreaming of the Inception snow sequences that were shot in Alberta...

Nolan made that look great but a Hockey game would be horrible in a Bond film...I'd rather see the Swiss Alps before that or Russian figure skating...hell even Russian hockey would be better...

@Xandera but I have to admit if they shot in Montreal for the old buildings it could work and be interesting..besides that I'd rather see Bond in more exotic locations...it's just me I guess

what happened to the whole Afghanistan drug cartel plot that was rumored?

being a brit & knowing the sun newspaper, this is more than lightly bullshit, the only thing thats worth a look in the sun is the famous page 3(it features a topless fit bird every day on that page.)

but saying that,if its true thats a pretty cool title.

WAIT, WAIT, ... THIS TITLE IS BULLSHIT...THE ENGLISH NEW WAVE BAND THE FIXX HAD A SONG BACK IN THE EARLY 80'S CALLED "RED SKIES AT NIGHT" UNLESS THEY ARE GONNA USE THAT AS A THEME SONG WHICH IS BULLSHIT. THE PRODUCERS PROBABLY JUST THREW THAT OUT THERE!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUKnmBDngA4&feature=player_detailpage

@Intruder - they have not been reliable for close to 50 years

the paper is scum perpetuating absolute rubbish which they have made up half the time

and I will never forgive them for the lies they printed about the Hilsborough disaster (unsubstantiated claims that people were robbing and pissing on the dead amongst other things in a horrible tragedy)

I wouldnt believe a word they print

Red Sky at Night implies a nautical theme, i.e. "Red sky at night, sailors delight; red sky at morning sailors take warning." Also, the might owe '80's band The Fixx a royalty check.
