Spiderman Body Slamming Doom

Rarely do we ever get to see Doom man-handled in such a manner by someone like good ol' Spidey. It's truly refreshing and even though Spidey, inevitably, ends up running for his very life. He still got one good shot off.

The story starts off with the Black Fox, a notorious European jewel thief, (imagine Colonel Sanders dressed in tights and leather jacket) selling a huge green emerald he stole from the Monaco Museum., which had a special display of heirlooms borrowed from the royal families of Europe.

What the old Fox doesn't know is that the green monster gem is called the Dragon's Egg and belonged to "the most powerful sorceress and most wonderful woman, this planet has ever known." ... who just so happens to be Dr. Doom's mother.

"Holy Christ!" is right.

Black Fox Cornered

After fencing the dragon's egg, Fox steals The Trask Diamond, foils Spidey and gets away, or so he thinks as Doom's men close in on him.  As usual, Spidey leaves his hot supermodel wife, MJ, alone in their apartment (wearing a silky little slinky thing... one of any number of things that women wear at night that guys like but have no idea what their called) while he goes looking for the Black Fox, which just so happens to have a limousine, with diplomatic plates, pursuing him as well.

these are all funny pics, guys. but you can pretty much take anything ever drawn by Rob Liefeld and it blows all these away when it comes to being funny.

Joker08: Thanks for posting the cover for that issue of Amazing Spider-Man. I'm going to have to dig that out to re-read this weekend.

And thanks to the writer of this column for choosing a great moment in Spidey's career. I know that Spidey has crossed paths with Doom before somewhere this, just don't remember exactly when. Sounds like a good reason to pull out the Amazing and Marvel Tales boxes Saturday!

Hey, if we're doing memorable Spidey moments, how about when he fought Firelord, the herald of Galactus?

Comicb00kguy. I have that one. As I remember, Spidey had a huge mad-on that day and pounded the shit out of Firelord. Someone who was way way out of his league and Spidey just snapped on him. Did someone have to pull Spidey off of him?

Next to Ditko Eric Larsen is one of my FAVORITE artists to draw Spidey (Mark Bagley comes in at a close 3rd) but this issue is special to me because I have THIS VERY IMAGE of Spidey tatooed on my right shoulder! A Ditko Peter Palm...um Parker adorns my left shoulder!

I have always seen Spiderman as a hero but I could never really relate to him?

And yeah No way Spidey could ever own Doom....thats just not happening

I've got the issue where Spidey throws down with Magneto while having the power of Captain Universe,and he pretty much stomps a mudhole in Mr. Lensherr.Off topic,anyone have the issue of Godzilla where the Fantastic 4 shrink him down to velociraptor size and try and imprison the Big G in the Baxter Building? Talk about strange,those Godzilla books Marvel put out took the cake:SHIELD with a Godzilla strike team was only the beginning of the lunacy....

I wonder who would win a fight between Doom and Darth Sidious (Palpatine).
My money is on Darth Sidious, being telekinetic and all.

Hey guys, (as JoshW might say) check out my Justice League fan cast in fan fic.

I so HATED all the copycat/ripoff artists to come along after McFarlane. Eric Larsen and Mark Bagely were two of the WORST ones. I sold all my Amazing Spider-man comics off and have a huge gap up until when JMS took over writing.

Don't have this issue, won't even bother to lie and say otherwise...

...I think my oldest spidey was the issue with Spidey and Nova teaming up to battle the Tri-Sentinel. Awesome stuff, though. I wish I had a copy of this particular rag, it looks awesome!!

I've been reading through old issues of my comics like crazy lately, I've got crates and boxes so full alot of times I'll forget about moments like this - I leave for school in less than a week and I'm not taking but a few with graphic novels me :)

Thanks again SuperHeroStuff :)

$wingin' Tree: I think it was one or more of the Avengers that pulled Spidey off of Firelord. Not often you see a mudhole stomped in a herald of Galactus! Have to find that one tonight to refresh my memory of it. I believe it was around issue #268 and was a two-part story.

One MORE great moment: Spider-Man versus the Juggernaut, when Spidey beat him by sinking ole Juggie in a skyscraper foundation. Ah, just like the Mob! That was another epic battle.

"I miss those good ol days of Marvel before everything turned to shit. Sigh."

What are ya talking about dude? What you call 'good old days of Marvel' was the START of everything turning to shit!! Low quality art, low quality writing.

@Comicbookguy
Now those were some great Spidey stories!!! I have both of them and they still stick in my mind after all these years. I remember buying them brand new off the stands.

How's this for a great moment: when Spidey and Wolverine go to Berlin and "Charlie" tricks Spider-Man into punching her in the face to end her own life. That was a stunning one-shot, lot's going on there.

Eviltwin, the good ol days before the Spider-Clone, Heroes Reborn, and a whole bunch o character deaths came into fruition. Not everybody can be with it.

@Skullboy

Lol, sorry, I miss read it. You are so right, before the Clones and all that garbage.

I think everything pre-McFarlane was great, everything after McFarlane till JMS was just a joke.

It looks like the new upcoming ASM is gonna suck donkey balls too, what are they thinking????:
