The Three Musketeers Times Two?

The Three Musketeers Times Two?

It has been quite a while since we last received a theatrical version of The Three Musketeers. Now Hollywood has two in development.

Because of the success of "Sherlock Holmes" Warner Bros. is moving forward with another classic adaptation. The studio already has two directors in consideration to helm its newest version of "The Three Musketeers". Peter Straughan is co-writer for the film.

The first director is David Frankel who is known for movies such as "The Devil Wears Prada" and "Marley & Me".

Doug Liman is the second director under consideration. He is best known for his films "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" and "Jumper".

At the same time there is an independently-financed 3D project being put together from Paul W.S. Anderson (of "Resident Evil" fame). It was rumored that the producers wanted Taylor Lautner for the lead but he is reportedly uninterested in the part. Anderson and Andrew Davies are co-writing this version.

There have been many versions of "The Three Musketeers" through the years, most of them pretty good. I hope at least one of these new versions turns out to be worthy of the name.

I love this story. I've only seen one or two versions that really blew. Oddly enough, the one pictured above (Sheen, Sutherland, O'Donnel & co.) is one of my faves. Tim Currey anyone?

ecks: I love The Musketeers also. Like you said, I don't know how many versions there are but most of them rock. Currey was wicked.

Lester's Musketeers movies were the best. The Disney one was ok. Man in the Iron Mask was cool enough. But Lester's can't be beat. Oliver Reed, Christoper Lee, Michael York, Raquel Welch, Faye Dunaway. Nuff said!!!!!!!

It was disnified, but I still found it an entertaining movie...why they choose all american actors to play frenchmen will always be beyond but it is still enjoyable.

And come on that soundtrack was pure 90's gold, " Because it's ah-ah-ah-all for love/ and one for all"

Taylor Lautner is uninterested in the 3 Musketeers...because Stretch Armstrong will be such a better movie?

Good luck exercising your acting chops in that movie Taylor...
