Speaking to Hero Complex, Zach Snyder spoke about the challenges he encountered working on the upcoming Sucker Punch. Sucker Punch is his first attempt at an original film, his previous movies being either remakes ("Dawn of the Dead") or adaptations ("300", "Watchmen", "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole")

On the challenges of making an original movie,:

It absolutely is a point of pride, but it’s also a challenge when you start working on something that doesn’t have a lot of reference in it. It’s difficult for everyone to get a footing. But there’s an immersive effect too, and it’s super fun and rewarding to see it happen.

He also spoke about how Terry Gilliam's Brazil influenced his work on the film:

That was a movie that really inspired me on this one.

And on how to best describe the film:

I wanted the movie to be like one big crazy fairy tale. ... It’s just a bizarre, other world that we’re in. It’s not like anything else. And that’s a pretty great place to start

I wonder if this will be as successful as last year's highly original Inception.

Sucker Punch is out 25 March 2011.
