NEW Dragonball Release Date and Longer Running Time

NEW Dragonball Release Date and Longer Running Time

20th Century FOX has pushed Dragonball Evolution back from the 8th to the 10th of April for the US. I am guessing this is for weekend promotion since the 10th is a Friday. I am not surprised at all about Fox pushing the date back, though. In fact, I kind of suspected it.

It has also been reported that the domestic version will be 1 hour and 40 minutes. This is good news. I am assuming the reason for the longer U.S. domestic version is because of the bootlegs online.

A lot of people have seen them, and the most popular bootleg is missing about 20 minutes of footage anyway, so it could get uploaded onto a lot of sites including Megavideo (where it is most watched).

A lot of people are judging their opinion on an incomplete version of the film, and so instead of just releasing the same material, Fox is releasing a slightly extended version for the U.S.

So for those of you who have read it, forget my previously posted review. I'll write a new one after I've seen the U.S. domestic version of the movie.

As i've said many times, the reviews i've read on net and watched on youtube means NOTHING, they are all from the bootleg, bad quality, 30 minutes cutted version, how can so many people say it was rushed or/and had plot holes when there is so much missing (exaclty 30% of the movie, bootleg has 70 minutes, the domestic movie will have 100 min, do the math).

Yea im about to delete my review, and wait for the U.S movie. I figured it because James kept saying Piccolo will wish to be young. I was like when does he wish, because it wasn't in the movie. The U.S gets the best version WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

as awesome as that home made video was (I especially loved the Great Saiyaman outfit...I need one for next halloween :P) I don't think the first movie should be like that.

They weren't THAT powerful during Dragonball. In reality, they made them about as powerful as they were in the manga by the end of Dragonball. So that was good.

besides, if they keep going w/ sequels, it WILL be that good.

haha I think Grif's posted youtube video proves that it is not unreasonable to request a decent live action movie.

Oh great, more time to fill with cliches and one liner quotes from other movies.

This movie was dropped in Malaysia from 36 screens after the first week and all of the asian countries had 40-70% box office drops.... that is just sad. I hope it is the biggest bomb of 2009.

And SGA... at first you thought this movie would be great, now it seems as though you are let down by this one and hope the sequel is good, well if it is a BO success they will think that people want to see more exactly like that... if it bombs they won't make a sequel, no matter what happens it seems to be a lose-lose situation for you (I just hope a reboot in 5 years, or perhaps in even less time, and this one, done with respect for the franchise).

I don't know who FOX thinks they are fooling. This movie should go directly to dvd here in the states. Its going to be a huge spirit bomb at the box office.

By the way, anyone else sick of silly taglines like "Evolutions"?

Well...im gonna give it to you all straight. I began watching DVZ in 1994 when it first started airing on Fox and watched the show over and over even though it was just the Saiyan and beginning of the Frieza sagas. I have been in love with the show since then and even have gone so far as to get Vegeta tattooed on my calf. Even though, i do understand that Hollywood will take liberties with a story in order to make it transfer from one medium to another and have no problems with that. That being said..... I watched the movie today and i have to say that even though the version i watched was in fact missing the first 30 min of the movie, there is no way that there is anything in those minutes that could save this movie. NOTHING! Let me explain. YES, they deviated from the source material in a major way... but not a good way. It feels so non cohesive and thrown together. The acting on so many levels was terrible. Justin Chadwin was no good and Chow Yun Fat was awful. I liked Emmy as Bulma and felt that James Marsters could pull off an amazing Piccilo had he been given something to work with. In the end, what im trying to say is that yes, this film failed as a DB movie. But more over, it just failed as a movie in general. As well, im not telling people to not go and see it, but i certainly am not telling people they should.

Again this is my opinion and you should judge for yourself. I don't understand how you can watch 70 minutes and not be impressed, but adding another 30 or even 40 will. Most of the movie, plot and all were established. Bad acting was there. It was weak to me. Some parts I liked and I said that... And the girls. But to me it was bad overall and bashing a bootleg that contains almost all the movie doesn't work.

Grif, that video is great. I am more impressed with the effects than the Hollywood version. The so called speed where Goku fights Roshi is bad. These everyday people did this with probably no real cost or effort and Hollywood can't do better. Wow! I am making it a point to tell Marsters to check this out.

Oh and in that extra minutes we will see TETO, the the new best friend of goku in DBE, exactly like the anime, all the true fans of DB will love that part, yeah more minute for see Goku in the School * sarcasm *

Its hilarious that this video that grif posted is more accurate to the anime and the action sequences are more cool than the ones in the film. Whether the bootleg version is missing 30 minutes or not, I don't how its possible to make a garbage 70 minute film into a great 100 minute flick. It's still going to be shit.

@Betty, Yes i am

@Grif that is the best fan made video of DBZ that i have ever seen.

I watched the bootleg of DBE and it was decent but missing 30mins and now with 10 more mins it will be worth a watch in theaters i kind of hope it has more character development ppl just kinda get introduced and background isn't really explained, even though they act just like their anime counterparts

Unless its 20 mins of Bulma and Chi Chi in bed together i really cant see it improving that steaming pile!

Ror as much as we all would like to see that it will never happen, I doubt that they will even be in another movie together with how well this is going to do at the box office.

i haven't seen really much publicity on t.v to even get kids to want to go see it. I don't even know how well it will be received by the kids, my daughter loves DBZ and she watched 15mins of the bootleg and got up and left, i liked it as a movie but as a DB movie it was lacking a lot.

Honestly guys, after watchin this movie, you're gonna wish it was shorter instead they're gonna drag out the torture. I, like most of you guys, am a huge DB fan, I watched it online, and wanted to cry, there are so many things wrong with this movie, granted I havent seen the ENTIRE thing, from what I saw, I know I don't WANT to see anymmore...The Oozaru is like 8 feet tall, has no tail, and is able to will himself back to human form, pretty sure that didnt happen in the series. It was way to kiddy, clearly aimed at 10 year olds, and the acting and directing are awful. I wasn't expecting much cause I didn't want to be disappointed, I tried to remain hopeful through all of the negative criticism, but after SEEING it, it really is all warranted. Transformers was a childrens show that Michael Bay was able to make mainstream and grab an adult audience, the same should've been done for DB. In my eyes DB, DBZ, and DBGT are EPIC series, with EPIC fight action, this movie falls INCREDIBLY short of those expectations.

By the way Osiris, I'm lovin the Aspen Matthews pic.

RIP Michael Turner
