The full review for One Piece Film: Gold can be found over on our sister site AnimeMojo.com (click here). I put together both a video review and included the transcript, but I thought I would post some of it here for the Anime and Manga fans here on CBM.

I'm going to be honest; I wasn't familiar with One Piece prior to sitting down with our copy One Piece Film: Gold. After watching the film, I'm still not sure if I'm familiar with the popular anime. Some of the characters and villains are downright crazy. The entire film takes place on the Gran Tesoro, a gigantic ship that's so large it's been granted the status of an independent country by the World Government. Yes, it's that big. Did I mention that it's made entirely of gold? It's ruled by the Gild Tesoro who has the power to manipulate gold.

It's hard to discuss One Piece Film: Gold without giving any spoilers and I don't want to ruin the film for anyone. The film begins with Tesoro, who happens to be quite the performer, kicking off show that includes music, dancing and golden geysers. The Straw Hat Pirates land right in the middle of it thanks to a very entertaining battle with the Long Pirates. The Straw Hats think they're visiting the Gran Tesoro to gather fame and riches, but the golden emperor proves to have other ideas. What ensues is an action-packed adventure that explores every nook and cranny of the Gran Tesoro.

Was it enjoyable? Yes! The animation and voice acting was all very well done. The twists and turns in the story left me guessing most of the film. I had absolutely no idea how it was going to end, but I loved it...

The Straw Hat pirates are hitting the big screen once again in an all-new high-flying adventure! The popular series that has captivated fans all over the world unfolds a new saga in the highly anticipated movie, One Piece Film: Gold.

The glittering Gran Tesoro, a city of entertainment beyond the laws of the government, is a sanctuary for the world’s most infamous pirates, Marines, and filthy rich millionaires. Drawn by dreams of hitting the jackpot, Captain Luffy and his crew sail straight for the gold. But behind the gilded curtains lies a powerful king whose deep pockets and deeper ambitions spell disaster for the Straw Hats and the New World alike.

ComicBookMovie.com and Best Little Sites was the brainchild of Nate and a friend way back in 2002. Nate initially focused on the back-end programming and front-end design, but now manages the company and its associated sites as well, with a LOT of help from some very talented contributors.

Nate has loved comics from a very young age and continues to read them on a regular basis thanks to subscriptions to various titles (both Marvel and DC). He also loves movies, as his wife and children will attest. He's not overly critical of movies, so his reviews should be taken with a grain of salt as he's much more interested in being entertained and escaping the "real" world for a couple of hours than finding every conceivable plot-hole and character flaw in a film.

Outside of his guilty "nerdy" pleasures, Nate enjoys spending time with his wife and three boys, CrossFit, playing guitar, coaching youth sports and MMA (he spent a couple of years in the cage as an NHB fighter, but is now MUCH too old).

I will be seeing this in January at my local theater. Which is so awesome because I don't have to drive an hour to Seattle to see it like I originally thought.

I wonder if this is some sort of inside joke. There are some dudes out there right now laughing about the fact that people are watching this and commenting on it.

This trailer might make more sense if you are high.

Where is Death Pillow? he strikes me as guy who might have stash of LSD. Maybe he could make sense of it.
