With Ant-man and the Wasp currently in theaters in some parts of the world, fans have already been trying to get some insight into the latest addition to the MCU and how it affects the universe going forward. In a movie with so much creativity, especially on the use of the Pym particles and the quantum realm, it can be expected that some concepts and scenes never made it to the theatrical release of the film.
In an interview with
Collider, Reed spoke about scenes that did not make the final cut of
Ant-man and the Wasp. He revealed that we can expect five to ten minutes of deleted footage when the movie debuts on home release later in the year. As Reed explains, these sequences were largely cut due to being repeats of scenes that were done better elsewhere in the film.
Reed did though share some details on new footage that we can expect which should delight fans:
But yeah, there’s gonna be some stuff in the Quantum Realm, there’s definitely some stuff with Walton Goggins, there’s maybe a little more Quantum Realm stuff that you’ll see on the Blu-ray, some really fun stuff.
Walton Goggins played Sonny Burch well and brought that villainous charm to the screen that he is known for so it will be great to see more footage with him, especially if it involves his mystery buyer or alternate versions of him interrogating Luis. And the more footage of the Quantum Realm, the better. With this realm playing an important role in the future of the MCU such as
Avengers 4, fans will surely want to see what else Reed and his team dreamed up for this area.
Reed also provided some insight onto how Marvel Studios approaches the visual effects side of scenes that may end up being deleted, revealing that they will continue to work on the VFX. This approach is beneficial from both the studio and consumer sides, with Reed noting that the visual effects help them determine if the scene does have a place in the final cut of the film and, if not, the scene can look nice as a special feature on the Blu-ray:
One of the amazing things at Marvel — even if something is maybe ‘oh, I don’t know if that’s gonna be in the movie,’ they’ll continue to progress it, visual effects-wise. One, because we want to see it, and see, like, does it earn its place in the movie? And the other reason is, well, it’ll be a great thing on the Blu-ray.
