It doesn't appear as if the Ant-Man franchise will ever be a huge earner for Marvel Studios but the first movie performed well and the sequel opened bigger than its predecessor which is a rare feat for second instalments. While Ant-Man and The Wasp had a modest opening weekend, it still performed more than well enough to push the Marvel Cinematic Universe to another box office benchmark!

While Ant-Man and The Wasp still
needs to open in a huge number of international markets, it's pushed the MCU past the $17 billion mark to bring its current tally up to $17,060,000,000.

The third Marvel Studios movie to be released in 2018 after Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War, Ant-Man and The Wasp
is on track to surpass the first movie and that should open the door to an Ant-Man 3. Regardless, between the movie Disney has made from the movies, comics, and merchandise, it's fair to say that the $4 billion they spend on the company was a worthwhile investment.
