Michelle Pfeiffer is one busy woman. Only this year she received an Emmy nomination for The Wizard Of Lies, starred in Darren Aronofsky’s controversial mother!, Kenneth Branagh's Murder on the Orient Express and just started shooting Peyton Reed's Ant-Man and The Wasp.
In an interview with Variety, the actress admits, to the delight of fans, that she takes playing the role of the original Wasp very seriously, but reading classic comic-books is quite a big problem for her: "I just started reading them, and I’m having a really hard time. There’s so much information on a page, and it’s not linear. When I’m skim reading them it’s difficult to know that this part comes after that and who is talking in what bubble”.
Pfeiffer also has a lot of praise for the first Ant-Man and the upcoming sequel: "It had this great sense of humor about it and just this unusual tone. This new script has the same thing. It’s nicely written", the actress stated. It sounds like the sequel won't lose the comedic charm of the original, at any rate.
Peyton Reed wasn't the only comic-book movie director she praised during the interview. Pfeiffer made quite an impression as Selina Kyle in Tim Burton’s Batman Returns, and the actress says that she would love to play Catwoman again, although she probably wouldn't reprise her “trick” of putting a live bird into her mouth. "I can’t believe I did that. I could have gotten a disease”. Beside that issue, the actress loved the overall experience and working with Burton on Batman Returns: “It was all Tim Burton. He was able to bring this heart and darkness and humor to it”, the actress concluded.
