It seems American actress Kathryn Newton found the process of making Abigail much more challenging than co-starring in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania as Scott Lang's daughter, Cassie Lang.
In a new international interview with CinePOP, Newton stated that playing Cassie in Quantumania was, "the easiest role of her life.'
When asked which film was easier to make, Newton explained, "I think the Marvel movie, actually. But I don't know... This was, physically, actually harder than Ant-Man. Ant-Man was the easiest job of my life. It was really fun... And this one was just as fun, but it was different."
"We had a real set, we had real props, real people. So whatever inspiration you get is from what's happening right in front of you and I didn't have to make it up, there was no green screen. And that was much more freeing than I was prepared for."
In Abigail, Newton plays a wealthy hacker named Sammy, who's been lured into participating in a kidnapping that goes horribly wrong when it's revealed that their target is actually a vampire.
While another Ant-Man movie seems unlikely given the box office performance of Quantumania, it seems the MCU has been gearing up for a Young Avengers/Avengers Academy film for quite some time.
However, who knows if those teases will ever have a payoff in the wake of Disney CEO Bob Iger's recent comments that the company would be reducing its Marvel (and Star Wars) output and only focusing on the IPs that are popular.
It's likely that Cassie will show up in the next Avengers film if the focus is still on Kang the Conqueror in the wake of Marvel's firing of Jonathan Majors. There are conflicting reports that Kang will be replaced as the 'big bad' of the Multiverse Saga or that the role will simply be recast.
Stay tuned for future updates as Marvel's decision on how to handle the Kang controversy will likely impact the next time we see the Lang family and how big of a role they'll play in the next two-part Avengers film.
