RUMOR MILL: Marvel Studios Has Future Plans For AVENGERS: ENDGAME Villain Thanos

In our new feature "Rumor Mill," we share the online rumours which don't come from reliable sources like the trades. This time, it's claimed there are big plans for Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

In "Rumor Mill," we share the hard to believe rumours which don't come from reliable sources like the trades, but are still more believable (just) than what you might find on Reddit.

Introduced at the end of 2012's The Avengers, Thanos would go on to play minor roles in Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Age of Ultron before taking on a lead role in Infinity War and Endgame. During the course of Joe and Anthony Russo's movies, the Mad Titan died - twice - and that seemingly closes the door on him returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

However, a new rumour shared by MCU Cosmic (via The Direct) claims that there are plans in place for Thanos to return in the not too distant future. As is so often the case, there's no word on when or where this will take place, and it's worth noting that the always unreliable We Got This Covered ran a similar report claiming something similar earlier this week.

There have been rumblings for a long time that a young Thanos could appear in Eternals, and while the Multiverse is going to be introduced in the Doctor Strange sequel, it's hard to believe Marvel Studios would use an alternate universe version of the villain so soon after his demise.

Given the source of the rumour, definitely take it with a pinch of salt, though it is hard not to wonder what it would be like to see the Man Titan make his return to the MCU somewhere down the line.

What are your thoughts on this latest MCU rumour?

If Rumor Mill is gonna be a thing, I feel like almost half of the news falls under this category. Atleast all report from NCU Cosmic. As for the Thanos rumor, he is most likely to appear in The Eternals then.

OT: Rewatched Infinity War yesterday, and gotta admit I didn't like it as much as before. It's still the best Marvel movie in structuring story and balancing between characters, but I feel it might still just be too crowded for a good connection to be established.

If true, a one shot on how he became the mad titan would be cool

It does make sense, Thanos has a deep history with the Eternals and the celestials in the comics. So a surprise cameo with a younger Thanos isn't out of the question.

If we’re going the rumor mill route, apparently Margot Robbie started trending on twitter when fans decided that she and Will Smith had an affair after hints in an interview between him and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith about her own affair.

Also, now that now that the couple have reconciled, that’s why Smith isn’t in The Suicide Squad.

@Chewtoy - You can't just "decide" that people had an affair. Making fan fiction with real people's lives is beyond weird. And Smith isn't in Suicide Squad because filming conflicted with his Richard Williams biopic

@Chewtoy - That rumor has been around since Suicide Squad was being made, and especially because they had already just shortly before been in the romantic flirty crime film, Focus; and also the fact that Jada and he have been open about their family struggles for many years now.

Well I can see him being in The Eternals and if They ever do a Nova movie it could show him taking the power stone.

So now confirmed rumor mill fodder is news? REALLY!?! Besides which it was already suggested that Thanos would be a part of Eternals, so no big surprise there.

Thanos died twice. Impressive until you remember Loki has died three times. Thanos has done catching up to do.
