AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR: Joe And Anthony Russo Weigh In On Captain America's Transformation Into Nomad

The Russo Brothers discuss Captain America's transformation into Nomad, confirming that while he won't be wearing the costume, Steve Rogers is being deconstructed and is now a character without a country.

Chris Evans recently generated a lot of speculation when he signed an autograph with the word "Nomad" and fans have been wondering ever since if that essentially confirms we're going to see Steve Rogers don a new costume after ditching his old Avengers duds (which no longer bear any reference to either that team or America). Well, that won't happen but he's definitely going to be Nomad in spirit!

"Yeah, he's in, I think we had mentioned this previously, it's no surprise and I think you see it in the trailer is that he is embracing the spirit of Nomad," Joe Russo said of Avengers: Infinity War. "It was always our intent from the moment we got involved with that character to deconstruct him. That's what we like, that's what we find interesting. It's what Soderbergh responded to in our initial work."

"With a character called Captain America," he continued, "you have to address the concept of who he is because his identity is tied to his country. So we thought it would be a really compelling narrative if he got into conflict with his identity, with the country, so the notion, the path that he's following is the same path that we left him in at the end of Civil War, which is he's a character without a country." So, Cap's story arc will echo the comics but not necessarily in the most direct way.

This has really been on the cards since he ran into Times Square at the end of The First avenger. Let's hope his grit shows through and we see Cap making the right choices cos that's why we love him

I can see someone in the movie quoting something like this..."He is not Captain America anymore. He is a Nomad roaming the Earth, saving everyone. A man without a country, a man without any allegiance to just one nation."
