Tessa Thompson Reveals Valkyrie's Fate Following The Events Of AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

There was no sign of Valkyrie in Avengers: Infinity War so the character's fate has remained something of a mystery. Well, until now that is! Hit the jump to hear from actress Tessa Thompson herself...

Thanos' attack on Thor's ship (and the slaughter of half of what remained of Asgard after Thor: Ragnarok) took place off screen in Avengers: Infinity War and with the Mad Titan later successful in his plan to kill trillions, Valkyrie's fate has been left very much up in the air. Now, Tess Thompson has taken to social media to confirm that Valkyrie wasn't turned to dust and is still alive out there in the cosmos.

The actress - who is currently shooting Men in Black with Chris Hemsworth - recently reported to Atlanta for Avengers 4 reshoots, so she'll currently have a role to play and will no doubt be pivotal in helping take Thanos down in the movie. Presumably, Korg is also alive as Taika Waititi has been spotted in the city, so the stage is hopefully going to be set for both of their futures in the MCU next May.

Are you glad to hear that Valkyrie is alive and well? What do you think comes next for the hero? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments section and stay tuned for updates.

Well,
Most of Asgard died under the rule of Loki, then some died in Ragnarok, then half was killed by Thanos and his crew directly on the ship, then any remaining in the ship were killed by Thanos using the Power Stone when mad at Hulk/Loki/Thor, then another half was killed via the snap...

@regularmovieguy - also, considering what was going on at the beginning of the movie, how did she survive? Did she really run when the going got tough? Seems out of character but also i cant think of anything else that isnt forced.

@Scarilian - yeah, that always bugged me. They were already culled during ragnarok, now they're being culled at least 2 more times in this movie? Why does thanos still think his plans for the best when he nearly whiped out a civilization that was thriving like a few weeks ago?
Feralwookiee
Feralwookiee - 9/29/2018, 11:15 AM
@MrCamw1 - But, with The Halfening, the Russos stated plant and animal life were also affected. So, technically, resources will still be just as scarce. Bummer.

Damn...Thanos plan doesn’t make all that much sense now.
Feralwookiee
Feralwookiee - 9/29/2018, 11:33 AM
@regularmovieguy - No. But IF they go into all this, which I doubt they will, it can be addressed in A4. My thinking was, all SENTIENT human/humanoid/alien lifeforms were effected and "lower" lifeforms like animals and plants were unphased by the snap. That would make more sense as far as resources go. We'll have to see if it's mentioned at all in the next one.

@regularmovieguy - dont tell him that though, he might half another half lol. I cant live off of 25% resources haha

1. He probably didn't know Asgard was destroyed.
2. He has a history of doing this, as he killed all but one Dwarf on Nidavellir
3. All of the Asgardians probably attacked him. Once they realized it was a loosing battle, Thor probably suggested an evacuation. Tess and Korg would help with such a task. When Thor said Thanos killed half his people, he wasn't being literal.
Origame
Origame - 10/1/2018, 2:00 AM
@Luminus - 1) theres no way he doesnt know that asgard was destroyed based on context. What, does he think odin is sending thor, loki, heimdall, and a bunch of random asgardians on a road trip with a rock monster and the tesseract? It makes no sense unless its a refugee vessel, especially since they would ask for assistance from nearby ships that they are refugees.

2) just because he has a history of this doesnt change the fact that it makes no sense based on his plan.

3) why would you charge your greatest warrior with getting people evacuated and leave the guy whos power is literally to teleport people?
Luminus
Luminus - 10/1/2018, 2:15 AM
@Origame -

1. That's all conjecture. Thanos is not shown to be Omnipotent or that he even knows Odin. I'm going based on what was shown to us.

2. His plan is planet-based, not situational based. It's also irrational, so trying to rationalize it is in itself a nonsensical act.

3. Thor is their greatest warrior. I'm saying Thor suggested that Tess and Korg evacuate as much people as they could.
Origame
Origame - 10/1/2018, 2:21 AM
@Luminus - 1) its omnipotence to use common sense? What does he think is going on with all these random asgardians flying in a ship with thor, loki, heimdall, and the tesseract? If you can give me a reasonable assumption to that which doesnt involve it being a refugee ship, ill give it to you.

2) yet the movie itself rationalizes his plan. Hes doing it so more people can have access to more resources. Hes doing it for the greater good.

3) no, thor is their king. Valkyrie is their greatest warrior. And im saying, why is she leading the asgardian evacuation when heimdall is there with the power to teleport?
Luminus
Luminus - 10/1/2018, 2:32 AM
@Origame -

1. It's only common sense to you, because you KNOW Asgard was destroyed. Hindsight is 20/20.

2. It's STILL irrational. It's only rational to him. Everyone in the film thinks he crazy, except his followers.

3. Don't know. Why not? They made a different decision than you. Is that not possible? And Heimdall had a HARD time summoning dark energy for that final teleport.
Origame
Origame - 10/1/2018, 3:57 AM
@Luminus - 1) yet youre avoiding the question. Why would thor, loki, heimdall, and a bunch of asgardian citizens all be on a ship together with the tesseract if asgard wasnt destroyed or conquered?

2) yet the film seems to very much side with him on the argument.

3) ...because he can still teleport while valkyrie fights? Its not a matter of them simply making a decision i wouldnt. Its objectively wrong and obvious if you look at their abilities. Also, heimdall was close to death when he teleported hulk. If he was at his prime, like he was prior to the attack, he could have sent more people away. He was also capable of keeping the refugees we currently have alive during ragnarok so even then it makes more sense to have him lead the evacuation than someone who was an alchoholic a few days ago.

Foreshadowing ;)

Could see them and the others escaping the ship as Thanos attacks while Thor and the others hold them off. Then time skip to see them floating in an escape pod as the snap occurs 'snapping' Meik and some of the Asgardians.

@Scarilian - At the opening of Infinity War, when you see the ship getting shot at, there's TWO halves to it. You only see the half that Thors on get blown up. Most likely Thanos let the other half go.
