MARVEL'S AVENGERS - "Operation: Kate Bishop" Launch Date Revealed; New Video Shows The Hero In Action

Square Enix has finally announced that the first new playable hero for Marvel's Avengers will be available on December 8th with the launch of "Operation: Kate Bishop - Taking AIM." As well as telling the female Hawkeye's story, it's also set to introduce a powerful new villain, the Super Adaptoid, that will challenge players with a combination of skills and weaponry that mimic the Avengers' attacks.

In "Taking AIM," Kate Bishop, master archer and skilled gymnast, resurfaces after her investigation of Nick Fury’s disappearance following A-Day leads to her mentor Clint Barton (a.k.a. Hawkeye) going missing as well. As she unravels the mystery behind the sudden appearance of the time-warping Tachyon Rifts, she uncovers a twisted new plan from AIM, which pushes her to work with the Avengers once again.

Taking AIM’s story begins shortly after the conclusion of Marvel’s Avengers’ Reassemble campaign and is just the first half of the two Hawkeyes' Story Arc. Clint Barton’s Hawkeye will then take the stage in early 2021 to complete the double-feature and lay the groundwork for what’s next in the Avengers Initiative.

With reports swirling that players have abandoned the game since its launch, Square Enix is no doubt hoping that this is going to bring them back, and it does look like a pretty fun ride.

Can't wait to play her for ten minutes and then not play the game until Black Panther comes out.

@InfinitePunches - Black Panther looks terrible sadly. War machine might be fun...but I deleted this crap, it’s just a bunk game.

@CaptainMexico - There'll be multiple skins. I'm sure one will look good. I don't love Captain America's default skin but he has several good ones.

@InfinitePunches - it blows my mind that these guys lost like 50 mill on an avengers game somehow.

@CaptainMexico - That's probably because you don't understand the business model. This was actually the highest selling game for Playstation in September. It sold well. But the year-over-year profits won't be seen until down the road as the game evolves. Which is how this business model works.

Now, they still have some work to do in order to get they player base numbers back up. But that's nothing new. This is a normal occurrence with GaaS games. Starts out basic with repetitiveness issues then takes shape as it grows and evolves.

@Tonic24k - the whole loot system needs to be overhauled. If they get half the numbers of players Destiny got in the same time frame, I will will PayPal you the cost of this crap game

@Tonic24k - Player bases dropping in GaaS models is normal. But not to this extent. Its pretty much completely dead on PC, with only a couple thousand people logging in daily.

The game sold 3 million copies and only has about 400,000 people logging in daily on PS4. Between PS4 and Xbox its only getting about a million people logging in over a 30 day period. The fact that it only released 4 months ago and only a third of its player base is logging in is not good, or "expected" for this type of game. To compare, Destiny 1 and 2 had over a million players logging in daily for years after they released.

I know you like this game so you feel the need to defend it, but at the end of the day, none of this is normal or good. Its a game that sold well based on the fanchise. But its also a game that many people disliked based on things that more content won't fix, like gameplay that people didn't enjoy.

At the end of the day, there are enough people playing this that it should last a few years without having matchmaking issues on consoles. But thats about it. Its not a game that will have a consistently thriving playerbaseike Destiny though.

Oh yea, same 5 missions with the same 5 enemy types, but you get to beat them up with a new character.

5+ years of development for this garbage.

@LeonNova - I'm one of the few that enjoy it. I would say it's worth $30 and the campaign was pretty good. I like playing with all the different avengers and seeing their skill sets. That being said this game was an extreme let down and gets super repetitive. I haven't spent a dime on any skins or emotes bc you can earn credits within the game to get those. Definitely not as bad as everyone says though

Darth258 - 11/19/2020, 5:13 PM
@LeonNova - The gameplay is great, but probably sinking too much time into it would be a bad idea because of the ripetitiveness and the lack of variety it has now. It's a game i play between other games while i wait for new content to drop because for now i maxed out the characters. Maybe wait for a price cut and a few characters to drop and see how things are changed by then.

Okay soooo they turned Kate into Nightcrawler are they just gonna have Clint be super basic? And if so why release him after Kate...?
bkmeijer2
bkmeijer2 - 11/19/2020, 10:49 AM
@FearTheLiving - kinda reminds me of Captain Boomerang in Suicide Squad in that it looks like they're adding a power to set it apart from others
FearTheLiving
FearTheLiving - 11/19/2020, 2:11 PM
@bkmeijer - I would hope they're upgrading both of them, because if they're having Kate pop all over the place then release Clint as his comic character there is gonna be a huge power gap and make it feel like a downgrade to Kate.

It's still weird that they even announced Clint before Kate given we've seen almost nothing from him and he's being released after Kate.
bkmeijer2
bkmeijer2 - 11/19/2020, 2:17 PM
@FearTheLiving - Didn't even think of that yet. I have no idea what to expect.

Maybe Clint will be even more powerful than Kate, otherwise they're not marketing this really well. Building up hype, but for what?
bkmeijer2
bkmeijer2 - 11/19/2020, 10:46 AM
I'm kinda hoping they're gonna make part of the game free as well. This looks fun, just not that fun

@bcom - I play it pretty often. I don't experience anything in the game that makes it "glitchy as hell."
