We've known for a while now that the Guardians of the Galaxy will appear in Avengers: Infinity War, but the role they'll play isn't clear. Both Gamora and Nebula have a history with Thanos while Drax is looking for revenge after the murder of his family so the team has good reason to get involved here, especially as they know about the Infinity Stones and Star-Lord originally hails from Earth.
Asked by Complex about how the heroes factor into the movie, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director and Avengers: Infinity War producer James Gunn weighed in on their small, but vital, role here.
"You know listen, I don't think we should overstate things that it is an Avengers movie," the filmmaker explained, "but the Guardians are a part of the cosmic universe, they're a part of Thanos' stories, so, they are in there, and they have, not the biggest, but, an integral part to that."
The Guardians will be making more than just a cameo appearance here, but it definitely doesn't sound as if they'll play anywhere near as big a role as Earth's Mightiest Heroes. That does make sense considering the fact it's them Thanos is coming for, but this movie will hopefully still deliver a satisfying team-up between the two groups of heroes! What do you guys think?
