Scarlett Johansson Describes The Filming Of AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR As A "Bittersweet" Experience
Infinity War will see story arcs come to a conclusion, and may see some beloved characters meet their end. As a result, Scarlett Johansson found the filming of Infinity War to be a bittersweet experience
The conclusion of ten years worth of stories will begin this month when Avenges: Infinity War lands in theaters later this month, and many fans have prepared themselves just in case some of their favorite characters meet their demise.
However, while fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have formed strong attachment to some characters, it’s easy to forget that some of the film’s actors have also formed strong bonds with each other. As a result, some of the film’s cast may also be saying goodbye to their members of their Marvel family. It is this fact which has led Scarlett Johansson to describe the experience of filming Avengers: Infinity War as bittersweet:
“It's been really exciting to get to work with some of the actors from different franchises that I have just admired. I guess you would say we are sort of an extended family. And then, of course, there are new characters that are also being introduced to the family. That part of it is wonderful because certainly what Marvel has really championed for, I think, is hiring actors who are unexpected, are dedicated and are fresh. They advocate for new, and that part of it is so exciting. Of course, it's bittersweet for me because I look around and see the cast and crew that have really become very close friends of mine and like a movie family, and I know that perhaps this could be the last time that all of us are together in this kind of way. It's a bittersweet feeling, but I'm really proud of the work that we've done. And I'm proud of what we've built. I really feel like I've taken this character as far as I can go within this context, and I'm proud of that.”
This response from the Black Widow actress echoes what many fans are feeling as the release of Infinity War approaches. Especially as it’s already been revealed by Captain America himself, Chris Evans, that he plans to step away from the franchise following Avengers 4, and that’s likely just one cast member that will be saying goodbye by the end of the next two Avengers films.
In all, it’s not surprising that Johansson would have such a reaction considering the star has been a part of the MCU for years and has developed a bond with her co-stars that extends beyond the Marvel films.
