BUMBLEBEE & PITCH PERFECT 3 Star Hailee Steinfeld Says She'd Love To Play BATGIRL

As far as we know, casting has yet to begin on Joss Whedon's Batgirl, but that's not stopping young actresses from expressing interest and now, Hailee Steinfeld has tossed her name into the ring. Check it!

It'll probably be a few months, if not a year or more, before we get any concrete casting news for Joss Whedon's upcoming Batgirl movie, which is still reportedly in the scripting stages - but just because it hasn't started casting, doesn't mean actresses can't show some interest in the highly coveted role.

While on the global press tour for her upcoming release Pitch Perfect 3, which is due out in theaters next week, Academy Award-nominated star Hailee Steinfeld sat down with MTV International and when pressed on whether she was interested in any superhero roles, she initially dances around the question. However, when the interviewer tells her that she thinks she would make a great Barbara Gordon, Steinfeld - with a big smile - replies, "Thank you! I'm not gonna lie, that's kind of what I was thinking." She then coyly continues, "But I wasn't... I didn't know if I... what to say. I would love that."

Meanwhile, her co-star Rebel Wilson also expresses interest in landing a potential role in a superhero movie, preferably one that's more suited to her strengths as a comedienne. She also acknowledges the fan support she's received to play Faith Herbert, a.k.a. Zephyr, and says she ultimately just wants to play someone that kicks ass.

Check out their comments in the video below with Steinfeld's remarks beginning at the 0:40 mark:

@Menks123 - I like her too much to see her get tied to a flailing franchise (and potentially have to put up with Joss Whedon's shenanigans)...

It's a special kind of nerd pain when you don't want to see your dreams come true because you know they'll only be sullied by the shortcomings of harsh reality.

@Spock0Clock - I totally understand that sentiment. As a fan of the DCEU (although they are still disappointing and could/should be sooo much better) I just try to be as optimistic they change their studio interference and bad ideas lol. I thought it was going that route with WW...but alas. I just think the role is perfect for her, but I don't want Whedon involved tbh.

He was great with Buffy and everything, but he was awful recently with Black Widow imo. Almost made me not like Scarlett's take. Luckily the Russos fricking nailed it.

@Spock0Clock - DC's not dead yet. It's kind of tough to follow a simple formula that Marvel has already done perfectly without being called out as copying. I'm not excusing the rushed material from earlier films. I'm just saying that improvement is better with support, patients and better leadership.

Why so many actors wants to join the DCEU though? Do their agents aware of what's happening with the company right now with BO numbers and reviews? They should've make these actors campaigning for the new FF and X-Men casts or any future MCU related projects instead

@wondermanohwow - Eh, to be fair though, if I was an actor I'd probably say that Tim Drake would be my first choice, my second choice would be Rick Jones.

I do have a soft spot for Batman so as much as I like the MCU and dislike the DCEU, I'll always want a Batman-centric universe. Nightwing, Red Hood, Red Robin, Batgirl, Spoiler. Seeing those characters on the big screen would be a dream come true.

I do feel like it's the DCEU's time to shine now though. They really need to get on a level playing field with the MCU.
