With a little over six weeks to go until The Batman arrives in theaters across the globe, a new extended TV spot for the movie has been released today. It only features a few new snippets of footage here and there, but that should be enough to whet your appetites for what is shaping up to be the best DC Comics movie of this current era (whether it's able to top Joker remains to be seen).
As always, there's a chance it could disappoint (no one expected Eternals to be Marvel Studios' first "Rotten" movie), but we're certainly optimistic based on these stellar teases shared by Warner Bros.
Filmmaker Matt Reeves may be heading down the same dark and gritty route once tackled by Christopher Nolan, but it feels like he's embraced the comic books in a bigger way, and there's clearly going to be a greater emphasis on Batman being the World's Greatest Detective. Seeing as this Dark Knight will be matching wits with The Riddler, that feels wholly appropriate.
The Batman finds the Caped Crusader in his early years, struggling to balance rage with righteousness as he investigates a disturbing mystery that has terrorized Gotham. Robert Pattinson delivers a raw, intense portrayal of Batman as a disillusioned, desperate vigilante awakened by the realization that the anger consuming him makes him no better than the ruthless serial killer he’s hunting.
Joining Pattinson in the star-studded ensemble are Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle; Paul Dano as Edward Nashton; Jeffrey Wright as the GCPD’s James Gordon; John Turturro as Carmine Falcone; Peter Sarsgaard as Gotham D.A. Gil Colson; Barry Keoghan as Officer Stanley Merkel; Jayme Lawson as mayoral candidate Bella Reál; with Andy Serkis as Alfred; and Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot.
The Batman is set to be released in theaters on March 4.
