We've heard snippets of this in the various trailers and TV spots, but Michael Giacchino's new theme for The Batman has now been officially released in full, and it's pretty damn powerful!

The Batman director Matt Reeves announced that composer Michael Giacchino's main theme for the movie would debut tonight, and while it hasn't been officially released in The U.S. just yet, an international version has found its way online.

We've had a few teases of this new theme in the various trailers and TV spots, but the full six-minute track can be heard by clicking the link below. The first few minutes are quite mellow for a Batman score (it's actually somewhat reminiscent of Howard Shore's work on The Fellowship of The Ring), but it kicks up a notch around the 4 minute mark!

Reeves send out another Tweet revealing that he's just finished qc'ing (quality checking) the film on an IMAX screen, and it "looked and sounded so incredible." Though nobody is going into any real detail, we have heard that The Batman really is something special, so that near 3-hour runtime shouldn't be too daunting.

"Two years of stalking the streets as the Batman (Robert Pattinson), striking fear into the hearts of criminals, has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City. With only a few trusted allies — Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis), Lt. James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) — amongst the city’s corrupt network of officials and high-profile figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of vengeance amongst his fellow citizens."

“When a killer targets Gotham’s elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the World’s Greatest Detective on an investigation into the underworld, where he encounters such characters as Selina Kyle/aka Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz), Oswald Cobblepot/aka the Penguin (Colin Farrell), Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), and Edward Nashton/aka the Riddler (Paul Dano). As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator’s plans becomes clear, Batman must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit, and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued Gotham City.”

We recently learned that The Batman will be rated PG-13 for “strong violence, disturbing content, drug content, strong language, and some suggestive material.” The movie is set to hit theaters on March 4.

This movie is going to be a boss and I see it doing really well.

I am curious though if this Batman universe will lead to another Superman someday making an appearance in this universe or if it will strictly be just a Batman universe.

To piggyback back of my comment, this score is great, the opening really sounds like a Noir Batman and then becomes like something you'd hear in the Lord of the Rings movies.

So I approve of this and I hope the other scores are just as great, if not even better than this one.

I don't know how this crazy MF managed to compose a Batman theme that is equal parts traditionally heroic, strangely poignant and appropriately somber without it being obnoxiously, excessively grandiose. absolute madman this Giacchino guy.

Meh. Batman '89s theme is so iconic and the scores of the Nolan movies, especially in TDK that ran most of the way though kept you engaged. This is ok, but nothing that really blows my skirt up.

The first half seems like it’s telling the stories of Bruce, the second half is the rise of The Batman

TBH I'm not really feeling it, but Giacchino has always been "hit or miss" with me. Maybe it will grow on me after seeing the movie.

Kinda uplifting, wasn't excpecting that.

Giacchino rarely clicks with me, news that he'd compose for The Batman never got me excited, can' f*ck with the GOATS tho:
