Poll: What Do You Think Of TDKR's Bane?

Poll: What Do You Think Of TDKR's Bane?

You've seen the first image of Tom Hardy as a tortured looking Bane, but what is your opinion on Christopher Nolan's take on the character from this one picture?..

When it was announced that Bane was going to be one of the villains in Christopher Nolan's upcoming Batman threequel many were surprised, not to mention curious. How would this super strong powerhouse be translated to Nolan's "real world" version of Batman? Would he keep the mask? Would he have his Venom addiction and become more powerful as he ingests it? Well, now we have seen a pic of the character..

And we know at least that some type of mask will be present. But what else can we determine from this pic? The mask doesn't appear to be there for show, or as some form of muzzle. But rather as some type of functional apparatus. Breathing perhaps? Or is Nolan actually going the whole Venom route after all? Also, look at Bane himself. It's too hard to tell for sure with the lighting(clearly the idea!) but looks to be completely bald, and maybe eyebrowless too. There also looks to be some type of scarring along his spine, and possibly on his head too. Could these be burns? It would certainly give credence to the earlier rumor of Bane being first seen rising from flames. The Fire Rises? What about his size. Did Hardy bulk up sufficiently for such a massive and powerful character?

Anyway, it's all speculation, and from this picture it's to hard to tell too much for certain. But judging on what we have seen so far, what do you reckon?

the mask looks awesome, but I hope he has abit more of a costume and not just bare chested.

I agree with avenger15. could add something to the costume. when do we get a look at Catwoman?

He's not bare-chested, if you look closely, (I zoomed in) and saw it was a cloth-like material, I think. It's an extremely different color tone from his head as well. Just something to factor in maybe.

the skeleton hand covering the mask looks down right awful, tom hardy looks good as bane and the mask itself looks alright minus that godawful hand, either go full skull or not at all.

@ theWorld Grow up man.

Personally its not what I expected but like Booster said, if this is the final product its ok. I'm guessing those scars he got from being in prison.

Booster, you're right, that pic wasn't a good representation of the look we got in the end, the world is clearly a complete c#nt.

Also, just look at the larger version of the pic guys. They are not "skeletal hands", they are some type of valves.

I like it. I think it looks fine.

My only qualm is a VERY mild one. It's not that big a deal really, but personally I think they could have done a tad better with the build.

I don't know who Tom Hardy is, but I'm sure he's a decent actor. I am glad they didn't go with a wrestler.

But just hypothetically I'm saying that if ever there was a character that kinda needed to be roided out and stupid big it's this one. Because that's what Bane's super strength power essentially is right? Extreme roids?

But anyway I absolutely DO NOT think it means the character's ruined or the look or anything like that. I would just prefer a little more mass. Particularly in the arms

No supersized muscles.
An even more gimpish mask than from the comics.
Looks terrible.

The Batman & Robin Bane LOOKED better.

And if the rumours about his origin and "powers" are true then it looks like Nolan has raped another awesome Batman villain (the first one being Two-Face).

Also, I am a troll.

lol yeah... what Ror said. That's not a skeletal hand. It's some odd mechanical bit on the mask. Tubes or something.

This is so Nolan. Which (to Me) is a good thing

I'll reserve my final judgemet until we get a better look (specifically a frontal shot). Looks good so far, though.

he looks more like a luchador than the guy who broke Batman's back. This looks like a job for Rey Mysterio!

And is that a cage in front of his mouth? Most troubling is that there is no sign of the thing that administers the Venom to Bane. Hopefully, this is improved long before this film ever sees the light of day.

Drykillogic: Yes, Bane is supposed to be Latino.

It looks pretty cool. I was expecting something kinda like this, although the wrestling mask from the comics is awesome, I knew they'd change it to fit in with Nolan's Bat-verse.

Wouldn't mind if he upgrades or makes slight modifications to the mask.

The Dark Knight Rises & Superman in 2012 are going to be great movies. :D

@Tea I wanna see a good fight too, I just hope Nolan doesn't use the same method of filming Batman's fights as he usually does.
That super-fast, choppy, quick-cut thing has gotta go, I wanna actually SEE Batman fight this time.

@Juggernaut Yeah I think he does it to make Batman appear more like a bat than a man.
He used it in Batman Begins alot more than Dark Knight, cos the Begins bat-suit couldn't move fast enough to fight properly, but it's just really irritating to not actually see him kick-ass.

@Tea What's that about Batman waving his elbows about?

if you look at the back of banes head you will see a round port for a tub of somekind perhaps for a certain green chemical i wonder???? damn straight this mofo will be jacked up on venom, like a guiedo on the jersey shore is on juice.
Ryden
Ryden - 5/20/2011, 5:05 PM
That isn't a skeletal hand, it looks like some form of piping which makes me think "Venom".
ManThing
ManThing - 5/20/2011, 5:08 PM
It may be that he doesn't need to jack in to any tubes. It's quite possible that in this the venom stuff is somehow rendered into an inhalant.

That could explain the technical look of the mask

So we have a mask that looks like it may be some sort of breathing apparatus. Perhaps for the ingestion of a new airborne venom????

I think we may know where our Scarecrow cameo is coming from...

It looks like it gets plugged into his head, sprayed down the tubes on the sides & breathed in throught the mouth tubes.
