These are the early concept designs for The Joker and boy does he look rough. Whilst the first shots have a strong ‘barmy Billy Idol’ feel about them, the second set look like Leatherface in a business suit.

But of course the smile doesn’t make the man and the Joker we were left with is a fine choice.
