The Batman hasn't been released in theaters yet, but we may already have a Blu-ray release date. A listing on Amazon for the 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray edition of the DC Comics adaptation suggests fans will be able to get their hands on the movie on July 31, later this year.

This hasn't been announced by Warner Bros. and is unlikely to be until some time after The Batman hits theaters. However, it has previously been revealed that the movie will hit HBO Max on April 19.

The Batman is currently eyeing a domestic opening weekend of around $150 million, but shortened theatrical windows have become the norm for many studios in the wake of closures caused by the pandemic. Sony Pictures hasn't gone down that route, meaning Spider-Man: No Way Home is still making a lot of money on a weekly basis at the box office. Whether The Batman will suffer from having an early streaming debut (45 days after its theatrical release) remains to be seen.

The movie boasts a three-hour runtime, and with claims it was even longer at various points, fans are already hoping a home entertainment release will include a Director's Cut of some sort.

The Batman finds the Caped Crusader in his early years, struggling to balance rage with righteousness as he investigates a disturbing mystery that has terrorized Gotham City.

Joining Robert Pattinson in the star-studded ensemble are Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle; Paul Dano as Edward Nashton; Jeffrey Wright as the GCPD’s James Gordon; John Turturro as Carmine Falcone; Peter Sarsgaard as Gotham D.A. Gil Colson; Barry Keoghan as Officer Stanley Merkel; Jayme Lawson as mayoral candidate Bella Reál; with Andy Serkis as Alfred; and Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot.

The Batman is set to be released in theaters on March 4.

Sony doesnt have a streaming service (yet), that also play a big part on why NWH is still playing on theathers.

@TheHumanSpider2 - with Sony being a player in the movie and tv industry, the music industry, and the gaming industry, I'm still kinda surprised they haven't announced one media streaming service for those three combined yet

@bkmeijer - Indeed, they could make a mega streaming site that would include streaming even games.

I guess the japanese mother company is still "old school" about some things, and dont believe in streamings services.

@TheHumanSpider2 - PS Now could also be so much more than what it is. Sony should really look into it in my opinion

This might just be the movie I'll go back to cinemas for, so I don't have to wait for the home release. Sure would be nice to watch it again though, especially now that HBO Max has a European roll-out date too

Amazon has been known to use placeholder release dates that don't mean anything, so I wouldn't put much stock in this.
