Two years after the film's debut,
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder continues to clarify and explain details about the narrative that fans continue to ponder.
On the social media service
Vero, the director recently explained why Wayne Manor was in a state of disrepair when Bruce Wayne paid the homestead a visit. Snyder's explanation for the building's decrepit state reads:
I think his father commissioned the lake house as a gift to his mother, a place built by her favorite architect, and she loved it. When Bruce turned 18, he moved in. He ordered Wayne Manor to be left to decompose.

Batman v Superman features a variety of different elements which hint at Batman turning his back on the identity of Bruce Wayne and leaning far more heavily into the ideals of the Dark Knight, creating a variety of reasons why Wayne Manor had fallen into the state of disrepair. This vague abiguity evidently wasn't good enough for some viewers, as they wanted the director to personally clarify the detail.
This reveal comes after a string of details revealed by the director about the film and his intentions behind it. Another case of this would be, Snyder calrifying a heavily speculated and debated moment which features Ezra Miller's The Flash.
Mid-way through the film, Bruce Wayne was greeted by a vision of The Flash who seemed to be attempting to warn the Dark Knight about an impending threat. Some of the confusion surrounding the moment stems from it happening immediately after the "Knightmare" dream sequence, leading many to believe that it was also a dream. Snyder recent clarification confirmed that it was in-fact real.

This
dream sequence didn’t come up directly in any conversations between Batman and The Flash in
Justice League, but it was the reason why Bruce wanted to form the League with Diana and "the others" in the first place.
Perhaps the moment may come up in future
DC Extended Universe endeavours such as the upcoming
Flashpoint,
The Batman or maybe even a follow-up to
Justice League.
