Kevin Tsjuihara Confirms BATMAN V SUPERMAN Screening; Explains The 2016 Delay

Earlier this month, a report claimed that a screening of Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice had been held, and now Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsjuihara has confirmed as much. Plus, he addresses the hole left in the company's film slate when the movie was delayed...

After several stellar summers at the box office, 2015's big movie season has been a disappointment for Warner Bros. The likes of Magic Mike XL and The Man From U.N.C.L.E. have underperformed, with the studio lacking a juggernaut such as The Dark Knight Rises and The Hobbit to bring in the big bucks this year. In a discussion with The Hollywood Reporter, Warners CEO Kevin Tsujihara explains that the summer would have "looked better" if Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice retained its initial July 2015 release date.

"It was a tough decision at the time because it was going to create a hole in 2015," he says. But despite the lack of a big-name blockbuster this year, Tsujihara asserts that being patient for the expansion of the DCEU will be worth it. "But it was absolutely the right decision for the franchise, for DC and the movie. Having seen the movie multiple times, and again last night, I'm extremely confident it was the right decision to make the movie better. And it's so important for the studio to get the foundation right on DC." His comments here confirm previous reports that a screening of Batman v Superman has been held (Den of Geek claims that execs gave it a standing ovation), but we'll have to wait until March to know if the eight-month delay truly results in a stronger film. Thoughts?

It actually didn't confirm the report. This just confirmed A screening took place. The standing ovation and the Ben Affleck stuff ARE NOT confirmed.

So while it's likely they are right, nothing is 100% confirmed in their report.

they definitely delayed the movie so they could get both BvS and Suicide Squad in the same year

His comments do NOT "confirm previous reports that extraordinarily successful screenings of Batman v Superman were held".

Yea, he didn't confirm that screening where the execs gave a standing ovation and made the decision to have a Batfleck trilogy.

Hey, at least they're confident in it. Hell even if the movie sucks the studio is 100% behind it and they'll go down swinging. It's not like they pulled a Fox Fantastic Four and running around, jumping backwards trying to fix it, while denying rumors that everything went to hell. If WB goes down with this movie they'll go down with there heads high and not be a bunch of punks like Fox. Good for you WB. Fox grow a pair.

"2015's big movie season has been a disappointment for Warner Bros."

*looks at Mad Max: Fury Road being arguably the best action film ever made*

Eh... nah.

Of course they needed to fix some things, but to me they wanted to perfect this movie and have it tie in with Suicide Squad. But most importantly they wanted to lay the right foundation for the DCEU!!!!!!!

The Marvetards cried foul saying DC was rushing, then when they postponed they said they were scared of AOU!!!!!!!

2016 cannot get here fast enough!

Hey man, it made some great money for an R-rated big budget film and it got absolute critical praise.

I'm just going to clarify a few things.

Firstly, the disappointment comment was to do with box office. WB haven't had a billion-dollar blockbuster this summer, which they've frequently done. Mad Max: Fury Road made more money than expected, and was universally praised, but it still didn't reach massive numbers of the likes of TDKR, The Hobbit.

Secondly, no, his comments don't confirm the standing ovation and Batfleck plans, but they DO confirm that the film has been screened, and that it's been met positively.

It's not done. He's the CEO of Warner Bros. so if he wants to check how things are going they'll play the movie for him

It still pulled in an impressive haul at $373mil so far, I also have a feeling it'll do very well on home video. And yeah, definitely my favorite movie so far this year.

Thanks for watching!
