Reviews Prove To Be Meaningless As BATMAN v SUPERMAN Takes Aim At Massive Opening Weekend

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice may have a ridiculous score of 38% on Rotten Tomatoes (a site where the last Indiana Jones movie has 78%), but it looks set to do big business in the US this weekend.

Deadline reveals that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is currently taking aim at an opening weekend of over $160 million in North America. That's obviously a great start and may just prove how meaningless Rotten Tomatoes is when it comes to being an indicator of a movie's success. Of course, the real proof will be in the pudding this weekend when the actual numbers come in; if moviegoers don't respond well to the Zack Snyder helmed release on Thursday and Friday, we could see a significant drop over the weekend as people decide to spend Easter elsewhere. Time will tell.

Those reviews don't seem to have damaged interest anyway, as the trade reveals that, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is bursting with a social media universe of 727.2M according to RelishMix, while its TV spots per iSpot.TV are pulling in 1.64 billion impressions. Among the BvS cast, Gal Gadot is the social leader counting 8.8M fans across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Ben Affleck is second with 3.8M, adding 1-2K fans a day on FB, and as many as 8K daily on Twitter. Henry Cavill’s total is under 1M across official Instagram and FB pages." It's thought that Warner Bros. has spend as much as Disney did on Star Wars: The Force Awakens when it comes to TV media, and many could be swayed by the prospect of seeing Batman and Superman fight more than some reviews.

It's word of mouth which is either going to make or break this movie, so stay tuned to CBM this weekend as we'll keep you updated on how things develop. Are you still going to watch it?

@MiopTop - Not in my book, bitch.

However on a less sitcom note, I hope I really enjoy this movie and that most people will as well. It is quite unfortunate that the reviews have gone divisive on the negative end (unlike Man of Steel which was divisive on the positive end) but hopefully this makes like Blade Runner.

Also, that doesn't mean anything. The mentions are probably mostly negative ...
