Haha that was good...I still think he'll crush the role. Not who I would have originally thought of, but I can see it now.

I hope they keep the facial hair...

But honestly these two would be the real life lex luthor's of this world:

The thing is, Henry Cavill could bench press Jesse Eisenberg like it was nothing. If he was taller and more physically fit, he would seem like more of threat to Superman if he got his hands on kryptonite.

Even with kryptonite, someone with Jesse Eisenbergs's size and body weight can't do much physical damage to a person as big as Superman. That's why this casting choice is such a joke.

I like him, I know he can do good in any role but he just doesn't fit Lex Luthor's villainy type guy.

What's next? Michael Cera as "Darkseid"?

So Marvel's going with actors like Rudd and Pratt, while DC's going with dudes like Eisenberg... People (sarcastically) suggesting Seth Rogen for WB are wrong, he's more Marvel's angle (from the looks of it). Now Michael Cera, THAT'S a different story for WB. Heck, throw in Jonah Hill too :)

How many Lex Luther's in real life actually look like Lex Luther??

You know what, since all the casting choices WB made. I had a doubt that they were going for people that would create controversies. I mean look at it, first Ben Affleck (although I can totally see him as Batman) then Gal Gadot and now Jesse Eisenberg.

It seems WB just wants to ride the controversial publicity to get people interested about the movie. Its a good strategy that is certainly working cause every casting of this movie is on everyone's mouth these days. But, WB, if you think "Heath Ledger did it for us, lets try that again" then think this through cause although even bad publicity is good for business, too much controversy can make people go away.

Human size has nothing to do with anything. Affleck is much bigger than Cavil, but being a kryptonian his batman still couldnt do any physical damage to Superman without an armored suit.

Still a better choice than this:

I guess that's what you get when you cast people off the top of ur head

I really wanted the cool black luther. I hope Jesse isn't the same exact character he is in every single movie or we already know what we're getting.

@SageMode
Villains Like Doomsday and Darkseid need to be CGI IMO.
so it doesn't matter who they get to play them as far as appearances go.

Both Doomsday and Darkseid are supposed to be MASSIVE in size compared to human sized bodies, anything short of CGI wouldn't do it justice.

I wonder what people's reactions would have been if Michael Rossenbaum was cast and people had absolutely no idea who he was and in images he looked like his usual self:

The non-comicbook fans who see movies vastly outweigh the comicbook fans who see movies.
That's why we won't have hugely accurate CBM's.

It is acting. If he can act, he can be Luthor.

Didn't people learn anything from Ledger? It's not about looking like a character in real life, it's about being able to become a character while acting.

I'm sure he will do well. But I would've loved to have seen Rosenbaum be Luthor. Just like JK Simmons should be JJJ.
Judy Dench played 'M' in Bond and the Bond reboot and it didn't bother anyone.

Another thing, look at Obama. Real villains are wolves in sheep's clothing. They have a way of convincing people they are the 'good guys' and any who oppose them are therefore 'evil'.

Lex Luthor would need to look like the 'good guy' standing up for humanity.

I can't say Eisenberg would be my top choice but I don't know what's in the script. So I don't know who this Lex is.

Affleck is a different story though. He IS a terrible, talentless actor. And even though he had some success as a director, he never became a great actor. And he was cast for his name recognition and he's too well known to convince most people he's a movie character.

he's more jimmy olsen, or wally west than lex luthor.

Somewhere, Heath Ledger is trying to claw his way out of his grave so that he can yell "THIS SHIT SOUNDS STRANGELY FAMILIAR!!!"

By the by, why is there a link below this article stating that "Marvel Oddly Chooses Jesse Eisenberg As The Next Lex Luthor"? Um.....Galactus? I'm not bagging the ads, as I know that they generate revenue but shouldn't your advertisers do at least, I don't know, three seconds of research?

NO. Your Wrong.
Why do people think Lex is a geek?
Zuckerberg,Bezos,Bill Gates, etc. ...those guys are rich & successful internet/computer saavy entrepreneurs but they have little to do with Lex Luthor from the comics.
Lex is a criminal mastermind & is nearly unparalleled in both creating & building advanced technology all by himself.
With his slick, charming & manipulative ways he's amassed a fortune & crushed most who appose him.
He's even become President. No real life Nerd Billionaire is like Luthor..QUIT DRAWING THOSE COMPARISONS!!
