The first trailer for
Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is finally here, and it was worth the wait. While many fans might have been expecting a grounded and gritty take on this team, it definitely appears as if director Cathy Yan is looking to the comic books in a big way, particularly those featuring Harley's crazier adventures.
The other characters do get their fair share of the spotlight here, though, as we get to see Ewan McGregor's Black Mask (sans mask), along with Huntress and Black Canary. As far as the latter is concerned, there's no real indication that she'll have her comic book counterpart's superpowers, but that may be something that's being saved for a later sneak peek.
There is some swearing in the trailer. but whether that should be taken as confirmation that
Birds of Prey will indeed be R-Rated is hard to say as of right now.
