Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey references The Joker, but the villain never makes more than a fleeting appearance (with a stand-in rather than actor Jared Leto). There have been rumblings that the actor's behaviour on the set of Suicide Squad may have contributed to him not returning, though it's no secret that Leto was unhappy with the way his performance ended up on the cutting room floor.
During an online viewing party for the Birds of Prey movie last night, Birds of Prey and Batgirl comic book writer Gail Simone was asked to share her thoughts on Leto's Clown Prince of Crime.
Well, as you can see below, she doesn't appear to be the biggest fan of his interpretation of the villain!
That's pretty much the same reaction the vast majority of fans had as well, especially as Leto's version of The Joker was such a departure from the source material. His strange appearance aside, the actor's performance was just plain weird, and definitely not up there with what actors like Heath Ledger and Jack Nicholson brought to the role.
Regardless, the chances of Leto ever returning as the iconic Batman bad guy are very slim at this point.
What did you guys think of Jared Leto's Joker in Suicide Squad?
