Oscar Win For BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER Star Angela Bassett Looks Likely Following Critics Choice Awards

The Critics Choice Awards took place yesterday evening, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever star Angela Bassett picked up another major awards win, setting the stage for her to take home an Academy Award.

By JoshWilding - Jan 16, 2023 06:01 AM EST

The 28th Critics Choice Awards took place at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles last night, with Everything Everywhere All at Once picking up the biggest win. While we don't anticipate that being repeated at the Academy Awards on March 12, things do bode well for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever star Angela Bassett.

Following her recent "Best Supporting Actress" win at the Golden Globes, the Queen Ramonda actress picked up the same award at this event. It would be a legitimate shock for her to now miss out on an Oscar, and Bassett looks set to become only the second actor to have won one of the iconic golden statues for her work in a superhero movie.

The first was obviously The Dark Knight star Heath Ledger (who passed away prior to the ceremony taking place), and while nothing is guaranteed at this stage, we're sure Bassett will take an Oscar home for her incredible performance.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever also won a Critics Choice Award for Costume Design, while Harley Quinn was singled out as "Best Animated Series."

You can check out the full list of Critics Choice Awards winners below.

Don't forget Letitia Wright like both the Globes and Critics Choice Awards have done.

Is this because of the anti-vax thing? Because she was phenomenal in Wakanda Forever. In a movie with Angela Basset giving her all, I would think of nominating Wright before I would think of Basset.

Having said that, she was robbed of the Oscar for What's Love Got To Do With It, so I wanna see her claim it now.

They can both be nominated though, y'know.

It's getting pretty obvious that she is being intentionally snubbed because of the vaccine thing.

Woman deserves all the praise. She's a great reminder you can take acting remotely seriously in an over the top superhero action movie.
