Numerous sites around the web have been putting 2-and-2 together and arriving at the same conclusion - John Boyega could be the next actor to join Rygan Coogler's Black Panther movie. The film has already wrangled the likes of Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan and Lupita Nyong'o. Adding Boyega would certainly align with previous comments from Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige that Black Panther will have one of the best ensembles of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Here's the evidence assembled that indicated that Boyega is at least meeting for a role in the film:
-
A Snapchat earlier this week from Boyega teased an important meeting
-
Soon after the snapchat post, Kevin Feige began following Boyega on Twitter
-
Heroic Hollywood posted an article saying Boyega was meeting with Coogler
-
Boyega stated he was a big fan of the comic book series back when he was first campaigning to play T'Challa before the role went to Boseman
-
Boyega and Coogler are friends and even attended The Force Awakens' premiere together
Logically, one should take this rumor with salt at the ready as it's all based on circumstantial evidence but at the very least, it seems there's interest from both parties. With Boyega already part of the Disney family, it shouldn't be too hard to work around his
Star Wars schedule.
UPDATE: Boyega's UK agent says he won't be in Black Panther. But do you believe him?
UPDATE: #2: And
THR's article is probably the nail in the coffin. Boyega's not going to be part of the Black Panther movie.
