Kevin Feige Says "Nothing Imminent" Is Happening With BLADE; Confirms UNDERWORLD Talks

During this past weekend's New York Comic-Con, Underworld: Blood Wars star Kate Beckinsale said that plans for a crossover between that franchise and Blade were quickly dropped after Marvel Studios made it clear that they're "doing something" with the vampire hunter. He was last seen on the big screen in Blade: Trinity, and while there have been rumours about what's next for him since then - mostly from Wesley Snipes - nothing solid has been revealed since Marvel regained the rights in 2012.

Talking to reporters following a sneak peek of Doctor Strange, Kevin Feige offered an upate on where things currently stand with Blade, and it definitely doesn't sound like they have anything concrete in place. In fact, he doesn't even appear to be sure about whether he'll end up in a movie or on TV!

"They did ask a long time ago and I think our answer was, ‘No, we’ll do something with ‘Blade’ at some point.’ That’s still the answer. We still think he’s a great character. He’s a really fun character. We think this movie going into a different side of the universe would have the potential to have him pop up, but between the movies, the Netflix shows, the ABC shows there are so many opportunities for the character to pop up as you’re now seeing with Ghost Rider on ‘AGENTS of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ that rather than team up with another studio on that character let’s do something on our own. What that is? Where that will be? We’ll see.  There is nothing imminent to my knowledge."

In other words, the character clearly isn't much of a priority for them right now despite him having some potential. The small screen definitely seems like a better fit, but seeing as Netflix is busy with so many different shows and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has yet to receive a season five renewal, who knowns when vampires will be introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe! We'll just have to wait and see, but for now, feel free to let us know what you would like to see happen with Blade in the usual place.

They need a magical person in a Netflix series like Ghost Rider, so they can start to do crossovers.
