Buck Rogers Gets Frank Miller to Direct

Buck Rogers Gets Frank Miller to Direct

This will be "Take 2" for novice director Frank Miller, who has partnered with Odd Lot Entertainment for Buck Rogers. Do you think they will revoke this offer after "The Spirit" tanks?

Although he's a comic book legend, no doubt, the directing chops of Frank Miller are being questioned.

Lots of comic book movie fans have openly criticized his directorial debut, The Spirit, as too cornball and too Sin Cityish. And now, there are early reviews that aren't all that positive either.

Regardless, Miller has been chosen by risk taker production company Odd Lot Entertainment to helm the Buck Rogers movie. Good luck with that.

The Spirit, opens in theaters Christmas day.

Really? Buck Rogers of the 23rd century? Seriously? How about a Duck Dodgers of the 24 and 1/2 century? That would be great. I loved the cartoon BTW. Daffy's awesome. But really, this goes along the lines of The Phantom, Flash Gordon, and a live action Bambi movie. Not at all my cup o tea. But hey, more power to the people who dig this kinda stuff.

mmm, probably once the spirit flops big time (as it apparently will), this will either get handed to someone else (hell apparently Uwe Boll may do a better job than Miller) or not get done at all.

I'd love a Duck Dodgers movie!!!

Frank Miller cornball? Noooooo. I'm pretty sure that Frank Miller embodies cornball. This isn't a diss by the way. I mean that in the best way it can be taken. I don't think the Spirit is gonna a masterpiece or anything, but I'm pretty jazzed to see it and Buck Rogers is 10 times as cheesy as that so he might just be perfect for the job.

Yea Odd Lot entertainment; I didn't realize the store had it's own production studio. I guess that's only funny if you know what Odd Lots/Big Lots is, huh? Oh well.

hmm...after reading what happened to The Spirit, and my low expectiations of Miller's directing ability, I say this will probably be another flop, especially with a character not so well known with the present day audience

I'm not a fan of the comic or the original serials, but I am a fan of the Gil Gerard TV series. If they are going with this as the adaption, I pray that Frank Miller will be removed from the film. If it is based on the comic or the Black & White serial....then I hope Frank Miller will be removed from the film. I have nothing against him personally, I just have no love for his vision. The only film he's done that I remotely liked was 300!

IF he's still attached to this movie after the numbers for The Spirit roll in...then this should remove Miller once and for all from the director's chair. Frank, stick to the comics medium, please for the love o' gawd.

I just saw the 1980's Buck Rogers on tv the other day. Campy, low budget movie with crappy special effects, Kick ass soundtrack from Queen and some good actors backing up a nobody. It's a cult classic.
Problem is, Miller needs to direct from the ground up, i'd be offended if he bombed on this movie.
Now Zach Snyder would get me Pumping like crazy for this movie should he show interest. Snyder would play it close to the pole and take few liberties with it.
ZACH SNYDER FOR BUCK ROGERS!!

jimdlux, Miller only wrote the graphic novel 300, the movie was directed by Zack Snyder. and i liked it too despite the bashing that took!

couldnt care less about buck rogers..i remember liking it as a kid because of twiggy the robot..thats about it.

in saying that look how well battlestar galactica was rebooted..but i doubt mr miller will take the serious approach, this movie will prob be sillier than the tv show..if thats possible!

I think Miller does wonders when doing comic books, it's just when he touches movies that it goes down the drain. Unless of course he has some guidance, all his movie efforts are.... bad if not terrible. The cool things he has done were comics first, then adapted by a director. So I say Miller, go back to your comic book drawing board and leave the directing to other people.
