Last year Frank Miller, who wrote the graphic novel on which Zack Snyder's 300 was based, became involved with the Buck Rogers project reportedly because he knew the head of the Dille Trust which had owned the rights before they were acquired by Nu Image/Millennium Films.

He also co-directed Sin City, adapted from his own comics, and more recently helmed comic strip adaptation The Spirit.

Miller had been tapped to make a grittier version of the 1979-1981 TV show.

Yeah, I'm with Nero on this one.
Buck Rogers is ready to be updated (but with out actual dates so that it can be watched with future generations and not be dated!) to new special fx and approach. Buck Rogers is kinda like Star Trek meets Demolition man. Society branched into factions. The worst are mutant zombie types (Like I Am Legend), the second is the seemingly normal civilization that trys to pretend the previous doesn't exist. And the last one are pirates. All of this is 500 years into our future. There are more groups, but those are the major players.
This show really captured my imagination as a kid. Wilma captured my heart! Ahhh...
Here's the first part of the show:

Needless to say, it needs updating. But not too much.

What'd he say??

Thank God!!! I didn't want to see another of my childhood memories destroyed. The concept of Buck Rogers is a great one, and one that could certainly use a fresh perspective, but it should NOT be turned "dark" or "gritty". Those concepts do NOT fit with the character at all.

If Miller has to be let loose anywhere near a movie again, why not with something he COULD do well, like Daredevil? That could be interesting.
