CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR's Anthony Mackie Isn't Too Keen On A Solo Outing For The FALCON
"Cut the check!" - During a recent interview with IGN, Anthony Mackie was asked about his feelings toward a solo Falcon outing and, well, his response was a little surprising to say the least.
Captain America: Civil War will be Anthony Mackie's fourth appearance as Sam Wilson a.k.a. Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and with those appearances racking up, it's natural to wonder whether Mackie would ever be interested in headlining his own solo feature.
While promoting his latest release Triple 9, Mackie spoke with IGN about his thoughts on a potential solo Falcon adventure and surprisingly enough, he didn't sound too enthusiastic about it, but he did have some pretty solid reasoning as to why: "No I don’t know man. I don’t know. I like going to work with good people. Like shooting this movie [Triple 9] it wasn’t really work. We got to hang out and have a good time and really get to know each other. I’ve admired Aaron Paul’s work long before Breaking Bad. I’ve admired Chiwetel [Ejiofor]'s work. Kate [Winslet] is admirable. So to be able to go to work and meet these people and see the way they work and kind of delve into their process as well is really a learning experience for me. So I feel like when you go to work and it’s just you and it’s me - ‘Look at me, haha’ - it takes away from that." When further prodded on the matter and whether he would actually turn down the offer for a solo movie if the opportunity presented itself: "I don’t know, I don’t know. That means my dudes are not going to be there. So Chris [Evans] is not going to be there. Sebastian [Stan] is not going to be there."
When it was suggested that Cap & Bucky could cameo in his hypothetical movie, Mackie was still reluctant, saying that the process woud be hard on his buddy Chris Evans: "No, no. Then that week is going to be hell. Hanging out with Chris for a week and then he’s like ‘I don’t want to leave!’ And I’m like ‘Chris dude, you gotta leave.’ You know, it’s just going to be a problem." With that kind of loyalty, it certainly sounds like that Steve Rogers & Sam Wilson friendship extends way beyond the silver screen as Mackie & Evans seem to be as tight off-screen as their big screen counterparts are on it.
So, what do you guys think? Would you want to see a solo Falcon movie? Or would you rather he take on Cap's mantle in a potential Captain America 4? Sound off with your thoughts below!
