Chris Evans And Kevin Feige On Steve's Struggle In CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

"There are events and people in [Steve's] life that test him — that challenge him and force him to reevaluate who he is and what he wants out of life," says Chris Evans on Cap's struggle.

Chris Evans is very excited for the release of Captain America: Civil War.  While the film will boast the likes of Vision, War Machine, Black Panther, Black Widow, Spider-Man, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Ant-Man, Falcon and more, Evans says the primary conflict will be between Steve Rogers and Tony Stark.  "It’s exciting to see a guy who’s as optimistic and as selfless as Steve be met with letdown, betrayal, frustration, and selfishness.  There are events and people in his life that test him — that challenge him and force him to reevaluate who he is and what he wants out of life." Evans continued, "Even though there are a lot characters, the focus is on Steve and his struggle. Especially his struggle with Tony Stark."

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige adds, "We've seen [the conflict] coming.  The clues were there. When you watch the other films you see how Captain America and Iron Man fight the bad guys together, back-to-back, but they have differences. And there is something that happens in the world that divides them."

Captain America: Civil War arrives in theaters on May 6.

I think his golden boy image is tested by not getting laid, still being hung up on Haley Atwell, and his continuing conflict of having that 1940's issue that wacking your weasel is "of the devil"

Would much rather them not release another trailer at all than have them pull another AOU and give away half the movie

Having them show the teams is almost giving away too much, IMO

Marvel's marketing for Civil War so far:

It's better than giving the entire film up with too many trailers and promos (like AOU unfortunately). We have 2 1/2 months. Slow burn marketing benefits the film's surprises and mystery (like Zemo and Spidey). Once they hit us with the full on aggresive marketing around a month or two before the film, it'll have been worth it.
