After cruising around Manchester, the "Star-Spangled Avenger" is apparently on his way over to the Beatles' old stomping grounds!

This from the Liverpool Echo:

"ALL-ACTION Hollywood fantasy will roar into Liverpool next week when filming on comic book blockbuster Captain America starts.

The big-budget big screen version of the iconic cartoon hero also means a big pay-day for the city.

The crew will be filming for six weeks at Stanley Dock and have already booked out around 600 hotel rooms to accommodate everyone from the big-name stars to make-up and lighting experts.

Shooting starts next Thursday, moving north from its current London suburb location, although on-set preparations have already begun."

Captain America: The First Avenger was written by Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus and is currently filming under the direction of Joe Johnston. Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Stanley Tucci, Hayley Atwell, Dominic Cooper, Neal McDonough and Tommy Lee Jones star.

Captain America: The First Avenger opens July 22, 2011

@TABOO13: I wouldn't judge the movie by these pics. That's not Chris Evans, which is why the suit doesn't fit quite right. These are most likely camera and lighting tests to see how certain lenses, filters, etc., will look on the suit/cycle in motion. Have faith!

@TABOO13: You would be surprised what some lighting and filters can do for a movie. All of the pics released so far have been taken by amateurs with normal cameras. Add some mood lighting and a blue filter and everything will look much cooler. Remember, Joe Johnston is one of the artistic designers behind the look of Raiders of the Lost Ark. He can make a period movie look cool. And Nazis, them too.

@ brent sprecher

welcome,back.

i'm a bit worried about the directors track record, but if he can capture the look & feel of raiders of the lost this film is gonna be amazing.

@deadpool72: Thanks, homey! I was in Brazil for a month, soaking up the sun and waaaay too many mosquito bites.

You can't blame Johnston for The Wolfman. He came into it halfway through the production after the first director was fired. But, yeah, bring on some of that Raiders and I'm sold.

Guys im guessing that this is a stunt suit so it's gunna be padded and more loose than the one evans will where.

Ok, I'll give him Wolfman..what about the rest of his movies? hehe. Sorry, I'm just not a fan at all. His films always look great, and he does know how to create a fitting atmosphere but he has never been an actor's director. I never get the sense watching any of his films that he is even attempting to get you to engage with his characters. That's going to be the downfall of a movie like Cap if he follows suit. But I'll remain cautiously optimistic until I see some footage.

Anyway, nice find Brent. I'm seriously considering a weekend in Liverpool now.

@Ror: Hell, yeah! You could be the man on the scene! How far is Liverpool from where you live? If I remember correctly, everything's pretty close by rail (at least, compared to hear in the U.S.).

You know the stunt man is going to be filmed using a long shot and then followed by close-ups of Evans/Cap on the bike, so just because the stunt man's suit kinda looks loose, it should not be noticable in the final product.

The stuntman will, no doubt, be just a blur.

As for Johnston - his movies have always felt like they have a lot of heart to me and is a consumate artist when designing and setting up shots. They always look great.

Also the fact that Whedon has read and slightly tweaked what he said was already a 'tight' script also gives me a lot of faith in this.

In fact, Captain America seems to have an even better set up than The Avengers. I have always seen Whedon as an (excellent) writer - but not really a director. I can't really think of what his style is visually, photographically or even cinematically. Johnston definitely has one and now he has a script that has benefitted from Whedons imput.

Really interested in how this film is gonna look. :o)

This is a bit odd. I was looking at the top page with the picture of Evans in the blue Cap mask yesterday. For a while now the face of the stuntman in the bike pics has been attached to an article.

I think the Evans picture is a photoshop piece so the fact that his face does not give me the Captain America feel is perhaps because he was not projecting that when the photo was taken. But still just taking the two pictures to compare I came to a remarkable conclusion.

With just those two pictures to compare I think the stuntman reminds me a whole lot more of Captain America than the Evans picture. Sick I know but that is what I see.

I have always feared a new Captain America movie frankly. He will be so easy to get wrong that even with everything the movie has going for it I have a core of fear in my heart. My hopes are high and overall I feel as positive as I can for a film but still this is going to be tricky.

Great find Brent! Sounds like the scenes they're filming in Liverpool will be even bigger than those in Manchester...I'll definitely think about heading up there if I can find out some confirmed locations and dates! :)

Cool. They working fast over there, My guess they moving around to avoid the First Class team. I'm suprised by how people aren't mad that they aren't filming in the states, cuz that would make jobs and add money into a local economy....guess it doesn't help that not all states good tax laws for film crews

@InFamouslyCool- ...Yes, it is. Go back and read the original article that the pic was posted on. Besides, don't you think that there would be a lot more comments on an article revealing Evans in the Cap costume?
