Marvel may be hurrying to find a new composer for this fall's Thor: The Dark World film, currently in post-production and possibly reshooting, but Henry Jackman was attached to score next summer's Captain America: The Winter Soldier film way back in March. Sharing his views and approach to the Marvel sequel while speaking recently with Film.Music.Media, promoting This Is the End, the British composer shared vague story details, having read The Winter Soldier script and its many revisions.

"What's interesting about the new Captain America movie is that he's now a fish out of water in a completely contemporary society," he says. "You know, the origin of Captain America is a superhero who can unquestioningly believe that the American government could be a democracy, and freedom could be spread without fear of contradiction; of course, the world correcting the ills of other evil and hideous regimes." Jackman continues, "If you would have done Captain America in 2013, it's a more politically confused landscape. And that comes through in the story; Steve Rogers is at odds with the society he lives in, he's at odds with some of the things he's being asked to do. He's more questioning, and there's a whole back story, which I can't give too much away, but it's emotionally haunting him. So, there's many more aspects which make [the film] more psychologically explorative, and darker and more morally ambiguous." What do you think?

To listen to an audio of the full interview, where Henry Jackman talks more about his approach to The Winter Soldier, the original film and filling in for Alan Silvestri, who scored The Avengers and Captain America: The First Avenger, head over to Youtube. Meanwhile, more photos and brief footage have surfaced from the Cleveland, Ohio, set of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” picks up where “Marvel’s The Avengers” left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C. Starring Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Georges St-Pierre, Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones, Emily VanCamp and Maximiliano Hernández with Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Redford, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is directed by the team of Anthony and Joe Russo from a screenplay written by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely and is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing the film. Executive producers on the project include Alan Fine, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo and Stan Lee. The creative production team on the film includes director of photography Trent Opaloch, production designer Peter Wenham, editors Jeffrey Ford, A.C.E. and Mary Jo Markey, A.C.E. and three time Oscar®-nominated costume designer Judianna Makovsky. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is set for release on April 4, 2014. In addition to “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on other iconic Marvel characters including “Iron Man 3” on May 3, 2013; “Thor: The Dark World ” on November 8, 2013; “Guardians of the Galaxy” on August 1, 2014; “Marvel's The Avengers” sequel on May 1, 2015; and “Ant-Man” on November 6, 2015!

Awe, I hate when they change composers! The Captain America theme by Alan Silvestri is one of my favorites! It is the ringtone on my phone. :(

So this will be the first MCU movie with a memorable score. Jackman's First Class score was amazing, so I'm really looking forward to his work in this film!

I can hum the credits' theme for all MCU films.

I don't remeber anything from the "memorable" First Class score...

I guess I'm backwards.

The [frick] Marvel hires these composers for.

All MCU movies' music are forgettable.
Iron Turd 3 has the worst.

Marvel scores have been lackluster and hardly memorable. This guy did the score for First Class which was very good, I still remember the Magneto theme.

I wonder if marvel will bring Alan Silvestri back for at least AVENGERS 2. They're changing the heroes themes each movie, I wonder if avengers 2 will have a different theme song.

The score for Xmen First Class was exceptional. His style will only make Cap 2 better.

People saying Marvel scores are lackluster. Iron man and Iron man 3's were pretty awesome but the best one was the Avengers. How can anyone say the Avengers had a bad soundtrack?

Avengers' score was great. Jackman's scores are very similar to Michael Giacchino's. Giacchino wrote the score for Abrams' Star Trek and The Incredibles.

I hate how MS changes composers. Can we get heros w/ themes please? I miss the days when heroes like Superman, Spider-Man, and Batman had awesome theme songs. I liked Thor's "Sons of Odin" theme, but Doyle isn't returning.

Cap had the only good theme. Was very patriotic. Don't like the change even if the Magneto theme was cool from FC.

Tyler's score for IM3 was the only one I consider good in the MCU. The Avenger's one was as forgettable as you can get (btw score and soundtrack are different things). I'm glad they're starting to get better composers, music is an integral part of a movie experience.
It's not just a problem with the MCU. TASM's score was terrible too.

4th picture down, Chris Evans himself is wearing the helmet, it looks good and his ears are exposed and are NOT sticking out. The helmet looks better on Evans. So can all of you tiny whinies just stop it! GAWD!!!

I agree though that the musical scores have been very generic for the Marvel movies. The problem is that they don't focus on creating signature themes for the melodies that can be easily followed and remembered. John Williams is no doubt THE greatest cinema composer of all time because of his ability to create scores that fit with characters, feel, themes and scenes, that are HIGHLY memorable. Each Marvel Studios movie should have a theme that if anyone was to hear it, they'd know exactly what character and or movie it was from, I love Marvel Studios but unfortunately, that is not the case.

Bouncing around from one composer to the next also messes up any continuity that could develop for the themes and scores and surely creates inconsistencies throughout.

Speaking of GOTG. What the heck is going on there. I mean, it's got comedy actors, drama actors and just plan oddball actors. What tone are the going for in that?

first of all..i think i prefer Cap's suit to retain some RED in it. the all-blue look just deadens it.

now on the themes and composers..yeah, i personally like it when each hero has his/her distinct theme song, like superman had john williams, both batman and spidey got danny elfman. i think that should be the rule NOT to break. out of all the marvel std.'s characters, only Iron Man's theme by Ramin Djawadi and silvestri's Avengers theme that actually stick to my mind.. and i think i already forget Man of Steel's superman theme.

But i dunno if marvel has the rights to all the scores, thus, they're allowed to keep using em in the future, even though, the composers keep changing.
