Gerard Way's Dark Horse Comic THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY Live-Action Series In The Works At Netflix

Most of us figured The Umbrella Academy TV series was dead in the water, but it seems Netflix has now given a 10-episode order for a live-action adaptation of Gerard Way's bizarre Dark Horse comic series.

According to Deadline, Netflix has a 10-episode adaptation of Gerard Way's The Umbrella Academy in the works, which originated with a pilot script from Jeremy Slater (The Exorcist). Steve Blackman (Fargo, Altered Carbon) will serve as executive producer and showrunner on the series, which is expected to premiere sometime next year.

For those unfamiliar with the source materiel, it focuses on a dysfunctional family of superheroes (The Monocle, Spaceboy, The Kraken, The Rumor, The Séance, Number Five, The Horror, and The White Violin) as they attempt to put their many differences aside in order to solve the mystery of their father's death.

“I am thrilled that The Umbrella Academy has found a home at Netflix,” said Gerard Way. “I couldn’t think of a better place for the vision Gabriel Bá and myself had when creating the comic, and cannot wait for people to experience that world as a live action show.”

I've never actually read The Umbrella Academy myself, but I hear great things. Do you guys think this will be worth a look? Drop us a comment in the usual place.
