In this installment of Superman's new origins (which is not entirely different from what we already knew as some people had expected), his past is touched upon slightly, showcasing the way the day to day activities on the planet Krypton were before its destruction. I personally liked that all these events are shown as being some sort of repressed memories of Clark which means that he is not entirely clueless of his origins a it was before.
Also the Use of the character Glen Morgan to fuel the public hate of Superman was done nicely. Though i thought at first that a storyline like that will not be necessary, i have , after reading this issue become warmed up to the idea after realizing just how it will play on his popularity and the trust and love the people of metropolis will have for him in future. As we have seen, at the time that they are hating him, an alien invasion is underway and what better way to win the peoples trust than to rid them of that invasion that they might think he's a part of?
I also like the new designs of what Krypton looks like which departs from the crystalline nature we have been made accustomed to by the Donner Movies and comics that came in that era. I am as yet still undecided about Krypto but i have no issues with his new look either. I just don't know if I'm a fan of it. But it does stand to reason that a dog or should i say a pet creature resembling a dog/wolf from another planet would not look like a dog from this planet. This will probably spark a debate about how Superman looks like us and all.. but i guess you either like it or you don't or you don't care much for it.
One other thing i like about this issue is how it touches on the beginning of Clark Kent's Daily Planet career. Its really nice that for once the Daily Planet is SEEKING him instead of how it was before when he would have to try to persuade them that he is a good reporter. This, straight off the bat establishes him as a hard hitting reporter of truth, something Perry White would want to have in his team. Speaking of which, I'm also interested in how his reputation has brought him a bit of trouble with the big guys of Metropolis but i must say even though it made a bit of sense, i didn't really like that his landlady found out about him like that. Here's to hoping she keeps it to herself!
Clark's character and his managing of his dual identity seems to be gearing up to be very interesting as Clark Kent's opinion about Superman, when he told the cops, was very critical.. a very good good way to veer the heat off himself and ease the suspicion.
In all i must say i enjoyed the book and i look forward to what happens in #4
As usual, you can give me your opinion of what you think down at the comments section.. I want to know what other thought of the issue, and if you didn't like it, why?.. Thanks for reading!
