Comic books have somewhat fallen by the wayside as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, but 2020 does actually mark the 80th anniversary of Catwoman. That's going to be celebrated with the release of Catwoman 80th Anniversary 100-Page Spectacular #1 today, and artist J. Scott Campbell has now shared a series of incredible variant covers.

These are available to purchase over at Campbell's website, with signed and unsigned copies available for fans of Selina Kyle. Of course, the coolest part of these variants is the fact that they celebrate the character's legacy both in the DC Universe and on the small and big screens.

As you can see below, Catwoman is depicted in her costume from Batman: The Animated Series, Julie Newmar's suit from the Batman television series in the 1960s, the purple and black outfit designed by Jim Balent in the 1990s, the character's modern costume created by Darwyn Cooke, Catwoman's Batman: Year One suit, her Golden Age look, and Michelle Pfieffer's Batman Returns suit.

The comic itself features an amazing array of talent, with work from writers Tom King, Ed Brubaker, Will Pfeifer, Ann Nocenti, Paul Dini, and Mindy Newell, and artists Mikel Janín, Steve Rude, Cameron Stewart, Emanuela Lupacchino, Adam Hughes, Tula Lotay, and Jim Balen.

Would've been interesting to see Anne Hathaway's and even Halle Berry's iterations.

@TheUnworthyThor - I always liked it. But that could just be because that was the Catwoman I grew up with. That and the Animated Series one, of course.

80 years of stories, damn.
Just like with Bats, i always had a love/hate relationship with this character.

We have Superman and Lois, Diana and Steve and i guess she's the closest thing for Batsy.

Wow those are well done covers. It takes a lot of skill to capture the tone of so many different adaptations while keeping the art style semi-consistent.

@Nightwing1015 - J. Scott Campbell is one of the best artists to ever come out of Image Comics along with Michael Turner. I just wish Campbell could produce art fast enough that he'd do a monthly book again. He's one of Jim Lee's protege's which you can see a little influence there. My other top talent from Image back in the day is Travis Charest, but he's even slower than Campbell.

@batmbl - Yeah I'm not familiar with his work but based on this he certainly seems like one of the most talented in the business.

I see what you mean by the Jim Lee influence as well

@Nightwing1015 - He was the original artist on Gen13 and co-creator and went on to create Danger Girl which was basically a Charlie's Angels style comic, but more like Bond in its day as far as the flashy look and big explosions. At one point it was supposed to be in development for a movie, but I'm guessing with the similarity to Charlie's Angels it didn't go anywhere.

They all look great. It god help me, I was never crazy about the Jim Lee outfit. That is to say, I like it, but the boobs hanging out always seemed a bit much.

Julie Newmar, best Catwoman ever! No arguments accepted. It’s a shame she never got to be the character in a serious adaptation. Kudos to the producers for having Eartha Kitt portray the character when Newmar wasn’t available and in a time when African Americans didn’t have much visibility on TV unless in a servile role.

never understood the one from the 90's with her hair out... like there's no way she wouldn't lose a strand of hair or two at a crime scene. The 70's and previous versions, before DNA profiling, are understandable. But by 1993 when Jim Balent was drawing on the Catwoman solo (after she was rebooted in Batman: Year One so the world didn't know who she was), it was very much a common thing... and something Batman had himself been using even before it was actually invented in the 80's (yay comics!).

Ugh that Year One costume is ugly af. Yikes. It's terrible. Michelle Pfeiffer, TAS, and the Darwyn Cooke ones are the best. Intrested in what look they give Zoe Kravitz.
