COMICS: Andy Kubert To Draw Two Issue Arc Of Grant Morrison's Action Comics!

Comic Book Resources have spotted a New York Post story which reveals that artist Andy Kubert will soon join Grant Morrison for a two-issue Action Comics arc with #5 and #6. This revelation was followed up by the following statement from Kubert on DC's The Source blog.

"When Editor Matt Idelson asked if I would be interested and/or able to fit into my schedule two upcoming issues of Action Comics with Grant, I couldn’t say no. I don’t know of any other artist that would have. Drawing the latest incarnation of Superman and working with one of the best writers on the planet made it a very easy decision for me. And in this story, I get to do some VERY iconic stuff! I gotta admit, I’m a little nervous… Fun Fact for those keeping score: I had never drawn Superman in a comics interior for an entire issue. I had done inking over Dan Jurgens and Jerry Ordway for an issue each over their beautiful pencils way (and I mean WAY) back when but this is my first opportunity to pencil the Man of Steel interior pages for my very own!"

The story in the New York Post also mentions that DC will, "reveal the surprising origin of a longtime member of the Justice League" at the New York Comic Con. And in case you were wondering, regular artist Rags Morales WILL be back for #7.

The only "iconic" thing left of Superman is the S logo. Everything else has been flushed down the toiliet in favor of an angry racist character.

Can't wait this this DCnU is over and done with and we never talk about it anymore. Kinda like Heroes Reborn

Right on, I'm digging Action. Andy Kubert is not my favorite artist but cool nonetheless.

Man, there are some real assholes on here. If your not enjoying the DCnU or Kubert's art why even post?

@longbowhunter so people can only give opinion on things they like? I'm a big Superman fan. DC turned Supes into a racist douchebag. Damn right I'm gonna complain about it.

@rbfn04

In what comic in what scene did Superman become racist?
golden123
golden123 - 10/9/2011, 5:01 PM
I have the same question Alreg has. What did Superman say (or do) that was racist?
rbfn04
rbfn04 - 10/9/2011, 5:03 PM
@AlReghave @golden123 you read what DC has planned for him? HAting a whole race because of what a small group did to him. That's racist.
AlReg

@rbfn04

I've been reading Action Comics I've been paying attention to DC and I do not see where he is racist.

@AlReg DC stated lots of times "Superman won't be confortable around humans, yadda yadda yadda"
AlReg
AlReg - 10/9/2011, 5:12 PM
@rbfn04

Not being comfortable around people is not being racist. If he hated people so much he would not be a superhero trying to help them. I did see him in Action being friendly to his land lady and Jimmy Olsen and he was pretty fine with them.
rbfn04
rbfn04 - 10/9/2011, 5:16 PM
@AlReg really, if you judge a whole race because of what one small group did to you. that's not racism? ok...

You never heard a racist person say: "oh, he's one of the good ones"?
AlReg
AlReg - 10/9/2011, 5:20 PM
@rbfn04

When did he judge a whole race? He is not good around people is what DC said but has not been shown what has been shown is him saving humans which again if he did not care about them he would not be saving them. And how does being nervous around people make him racist to the entire human species?

rbfn04
rbfn04 - 10/9/2011, 5:27 PM
@AlReg when he is not comfortable around a whole race, that's when he judged.

ALso, him and Jimmy was before his 'turning point' which happened in Action #2.

But, we already had this whole discussion days ago.

Anything Andy Kubert draws is platinum. His run on Captain America was great. Definitely one of my favorite artists ever

@rbfn04

Even humans are nervous around other humans only if they are uncomfortable with or disliked a certain race and treated them unfairly compared to others then they are racist. If someone hates all humans and judges them all then it is something else. If Superman did not like all humans he would not be Superman risking his life for them.

@rbfn04 or he would or DC wouldn't write Superman stories.

But, it's cool, you dig racist, douchey, hits first ask wuestion later SUperman. i can't wait to see this "Heroes Reborn" gone...

@rbfn04, You can complain all you want. I just dont think anyone on here cares or can do a damn thing to fix it. I just think your wasting your time. And apparently so am I. I'm out!
AlReg
AlReg - 10/9/2011, 5:45 PM
@rbfn04

Damn man seriously? It's not racist and it's not even the proper word he would be a misanthrope which he is not and will not be.

Sorry if this exchange bothered anyone.
rbfn04
rbfn04 - 10/9/2011, 5:58 PM
@Longbowdo a damn thing? people unhappy about it can not buy, but change it directly, no. But, than again, the whole point of having comments is talking about the industry. Calling people assholes for not liking something sounds a bit harsh...

@ALReg @EasterBunny really? it ain't? OMG... Point still stands ;). Now, if I was writing a piece about it, I'd correct it, but we are not being formal here ;). And if you read everything the triumviratum at DC said, Superman is not a big fan of people...

Morales is suppose to return after this storyline but right from the beginning he could not be a monthly artist even the last issue had some scenes penciled by Brent Anderson. Did not really hurt the issue but really would be bad if DC stopped and waited for the artist keeping the book off the racks for months.

I would have liked it if it was a situation Morrison had in Batman and Robin with a new artist coming in after three issues.

He should do more than 2 issues
