SUPERMAN Will Reportedly Reveal His Identity To The World This December In Major Status Quo Change

DC Comics has "revealed" Superman's secret identity to the world on a number of occasions over the years but it now appears as if the Man of Steel's real name will finally be outed to the DC Universe...

Last night, DC Comics revealed its December 2019 solicitations and the descriptions for Lois Lane #7 and Superman #18 point to the Man of Steel telling the world that he's actually Clark Kent.

According to the Superman #18 solicitation text, Brian Michael Bendis and Ivan Reis will "introduce the biggest change in the Man of Steel's life ever!" Lois Lane #7, however, is a little more direct as it mentions that "this issue ties to the events of December’s Superman #18 and the gigantic status quo shift for both Lois and her husband, Superman, when the Man of Steel decides to reveal his identity to the world."

That sounds pretty definitive and it's hard not to wonder whether this has something to do with Doomsday Clock #12 as the final issue of that series is also set to go on sale this December.

In that, Superman will finally come to blows with Dr. Manhattan and seeing as the Watchmen villain has fooled the world into viewing the Man of Steel as a threat, it would make sense for the Kryptonian to reveal his human persona to the world at large. For now, we'll just have to wait and see.

Check out the covers for both issues below:

If they want to keep with the times it makes too much sense for todays day and age. Facial recognition software is so advanced, you would think everyone should already know.

I haven't bought a D.C. Comic in 25 years.
Looks like it'll stay that way.

This is the type of shit that had fans worried about bringing bendis on board Superman. And we were right. It won’t last of course, but still. A gimmicks a gimmick.

I think is was the Superman/Batman comic a few years ago where Bats gets Supes’ powers and goes on a bit of a tear, that Bruce explains to someone that Clark is a master of disguise. Look how he wears clothes that are a bit baggy and slouches to hide is physique.

Until he writes in something to retcon it and gets a magician to wipe everyone's memories that Clark is Superman...

This means that either A) something will happen to wipe everyone's memory or B) we're headed for another "reboot the DC universe" event. Given DC's track record, I'm thinking B. Ever since Crisis on Infinite Earths, it's been one universe/timeline reboot after another. Usually they coincide with DC acquiring another comic company and rebooted so as to introduce the new characters as "always being a part of the DC universe". So the question is, which set of comic characters have they acquired now?
