AMAZING SPIDER-MAN: KING'S RANSOM Resurrects A Long-Dead Spider-Man Villain - SPOILERS

Boomerang betrayed Spider-Man in the pages of today's Amazing Spider-Man: King's Ransom, delivering the completed Lifeline Tablet to Wilson Fisk. While we, and Peter Parker, expected The Kingpin to bring Vanessa Fisk back from the dead, the villain came to terms with the fact that his late wife wouldn't want to be resurrected to live alongside the man she hated before dying.

Instead, he chose to fix Vanessa's biggest mistake and bring back their son, Richard, a villain better known as The Rose. Despite a brief return during "The Clone Conspiracy," Richard has remained dead since his mother gunned him down, so it will be interesting to see what he brings to the table now The Kingpin is the Mayor of New York City.

The Rose has been a thorn (no pun intended) in the sides of both his dear old daddy and Spidey over the years, so he's likely going to make quite the splash in Amazing Spider-Man moving forward.

As we near the series' landmark 900th issue, it's clear that writer Nick Spencer has big plans for Kindred and some sort of "One More Day" retcon, but he's certainly throwing plenty at the wall-crawler in the meantime. It feels like a big status quo shift is in the works for the web-slinger, something that's arguably needed at this point (yes, we want his marriage with MJ back).

Check out The Rose's return below:

The fact that we are still having "One more day restoration" dialogue confirms that Joe Quesada is truly the greatest Spider-Man villain. Penny, penny.

@tripttwe - All Spidey books seem to do lately is revive long dead villains. Although this one's my boy. Started reading Spidey comics with this guy, though it was a team up of sorts back then. Fisk Jr was a little loon at the time. It's also why you'll never see grown Spidey, not courtesy of Disney anyway. It's a hard knock life for him.

I've definitely not read as many comics as I used to, but I've never even heard of this character. I knew Fisk had a son, that was about it.

That being said, is this a character worth looking into? What are some compelling reasons people like him?

@ElricReturns - I don't think people LIKED him but he was prominent during the... late 70's? or so. There was a lot of interaction between him and the Hobgoblin.

@ElricReturns - I had some trades with the Rose in them, but those stories also had Black Cat in them, so... I... got... distracted...

I was hoping it'd be Spencer Smythe.

"The Rose has been a thorn (no pun intended) in the sides of both Spider-Man and his dear old daddy over the years"

No, that horrible pun was very intended. The are many adjectives metaphors or descriptions that you could have used otherwise.

Not this "Bargain Bin Baron Zemo". Sheesh.

The Kingpin / organized crime stuff is definitely one of the underutilized sides of the Spider-Man mythos in live-action. Maybe we're getting close with the kind of investment that Disney+ makes in a Marvel series, but Spidey really was built for a long-form semi-episodic format.

...Man, I wish Daredevil had kept going (and wasn't so slow and Netflixy).

Just give me an powerfully intense conflicting battle something where Spiderman or should I'd say three in total Spiderman's spoiler alert Spidergwhen would show up. Watch I'm right on this. Diversity... battle it out thinking one of them is not to be trusted. Idk Like a Judas in Spider Man's paranoid one of them is evil and not to be trusted. including future versions one unmasked revealing everybody who his identity is but not knowing who the other Spiderman's are so gives us more leavege to use Peter Parker as a scoat goat for the masses not realizing it's the original Spiderman this whole time fooling the public once the new Spiderman gets unmasked resulting in wait who's the real Spiderman? This would be a great way to explain to the public so Peter Parker isn't Spiderman unless doesn't use none of his powers then his identity is preserved but people wont know while the other two is dragged into this multiverse mess. Sounds legit and possibly might make it into the MCU I've made it up. there currently in The other two is masked up trying to preserve their identity and keep it secret huge battle would be fought Bring in Electro to power up a device to kill all the Spidermans in existence Idk fan idea figure out what happened? Why their supposed universe got erased? Just an random fan idea I created just now.

I'm not reading the comic currently, but the bits I see on here do sound interesting. Especially the use of characters. Is it worth the read?

I'm still a bit Meh over Kindreds identity reveal (SPOILER) I mean H.O (Just incase) wasn't that big a suprise.

I'd never have classed The Rose as one of the great Spidey villains.
