AMAZING SPIDER-MAN: Marvel Comics Confirms That The Green Goblin Is Finally Making His Return

It's been a while since we've seen the Green Goblin in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man, but the villain is finally making his return to the Marvel Universe, and you can find more details on that here...

Spider-Man has a lot of spectacular foes, but the Green Goblin might just be his greatest. Now, following some big teases from Amazing Spider-Man editor Nick Lowe on Twitter, it's been confirmed that Norman Osborn and his villainous alter-ego will return in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man #850.

After being left thinking he was Cletus Kasady when he bonded with the Carnage symbiote, Norman regained his mind during Absolute Carnage and has since managed to pass off what happened in and before Amazing Spider-Man #800 as the fault of that alien. Recently, he's been serving New York City Mayor Wilson Fisk as a consultant on rebuilding the Ravencroft Institute.

However, something is clearly going to lead to the Goblin's return, and it's hard not to wonder if the mysterious Kindred won't be involved in this seeing as they appear to have a history.

"Spider-Man has been pushed harder than he has in a very long time and in ways he has never been before," reads the solicitation text for Amazing Spider-Man #850"How far can he be pushed before he breaks? Who he has to face this issue is going to answer that very clearly as we are one issue from AMAZING SPIDER-MAN LGY #850!"

Are you excited to see the Green Goblin make his long overdue return? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section, and check out InHyuk Lee's variant cover for issue #850 below.

Wonder if it will be Norman or Harry, from what ive heard, both have had very little to do with Spiderman in a long time.

Heck yeah. Few things better than Spidey vs Green Goblin high amongst the skyscrapers.

@TheUnworthyThor - hopefully we eventually get that in the mcu

I would love to see a more comic-accurate Goblin, both in appearance and story. Dafoe was great, but the costume was lacking and I would just rather have him be evil and not mad from a super-soldier serum.

@RolandD -

I really don’t understand why they didn’t go for this.

If kids were okay with Venom and the infamous Doc Ock Surgery room scene, this would have been fine

@SatsuiNoJXA -I don’t know at what point they gave up on the idea but the animatronic looks awesomez

@SatsuiNoJXA - I just read a story on ScreenRant. The reasons given were “too creepy” you suggested and too much time to apply. If anything was too creepy, I would say that the Goblin getting gored by his sled far outweighed the mask they didn’t use.

@RolandD - The reasons given were “too creepy”

Compared to what? Willem DaFoe's actual face?

@RolandD -

I had a feeling it would be centered around kids being too scared or creeped out by it. But man, that was a waste of potential. And its such a beautiful animatronic mask that far exceeds the Mighty Morphin’ Raimi Goblin

@SatsuiNoJXA - from what ive hear Defoe didnt want to wear the make up

But he was fine wearing that whole pre-Nolan Dark Knight Suit? That would seem silly if that were true

@dragon316 - I was about to say I don’t care what they did in the cartoon, but I just found out that this was also how it happened on the comics. I never realized that . Thanks

@dragon316 -

May not be no makeup required but you still gotta put the suit together for an extensive amount of time and wear it for an extensive amount of time.

I don’t buy comics anymore. Did they ever ret-con out his having been the father of Gwen Stacy’s twins. Yech!
Reeds2Much
Reeds2Much - 6/15/2020, 12:12 PM
@RolandD - Much like Superman's ability to summon midgets from his hands, they didn't so much ret-con it as they avoid any mention of it and hope enough time passes that people forget on their own.
OmegaBlack13
OmegaBlack13 - 6/15/2020, 2:16 PM
@Reeds2Much - Actually I think One More Day sort of retconed it
Reeds2Much
Reeds2Much - 6/15/2020, 5:37 PM
@OmegaBlack13 - Well, narratively speaking the only things One More Day changed where things that happened just before and everything after Peter's and Mary Jane's wedding, so Gwen would have still banged Tommy Lee Jones.

Also according to wiki the twins have shown up occasionally so I guess they're still kind of wandering around.
