Results From Round 2
A great round for Captain America, while Spider-Man finds himself without a movie (cept for Civil War).
1 Captain America: The Winter Soldier (35) defeated Deadpool (3)
I'm not surprised by the result, just the margin of it! I thought Deadpool would've had a stronger following, unlucky to run into the Winter Soldier I suppose.
2 Ghost World (4) lost to Men In Black (31)
Ghost World has to have suffered from a lack of viewership, but Men In Black is a comedy classic.
3 American Splendor (5) lost to Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (26)
Phantasm has a great following, and a lot of people will be thrilled it made it into the final 16. American Splendor is a terrific film, but perhaps doesn't have much reach.
4 Captain America: Civil War (32) defeated Spider-Man (6)
Civil War had a very impressive win over the original Spider-Man film, and will be looking to go far in the tournament.
5 300 (18) lost to The Wolverine (20)
A thriller! As the underrated The Wolverine pips Zack Snyder's 300 by only 2 votes.
6 Kingsman: The Secret Service (7) lost to The Avengers (31)
The Avengers, despite the quality of Kingsman, was never going to lose this early.
7 X-Men: Days of Future Past (23) defeated Watchmen (14)
A solid victory to Days of Future Past, as the controversial Watchmen performed admirably.
8 Blade II (9) lost to Doctor Strange (27)
The newest film on this list, Doctor Strange, is still performing stronge. Blade II a great film, but no match for the Sorcerer Supreme.
9 Spider-Man 2 (15) lost to Guardians of the Galaxy (21)
Most people lamented making this choice, and it is a BRUTAL 2nd round match. In the end Guardians had a fairly comfortable 6 point win.
10 Superman II (16) lost to Hellboy II: The Golden Army (19)
Another close match, with the classic Superman flock falling down to cult film Hellboy II (who has now taken down Superman and Batman).
11 Superman (30) defeated The Amazing Spider-Man (8)
The film that arguably started it all in Superman finished Spider-Man's hope of winning this tournament.
12 X-Men: First Class (28) defeated Man of Steel (10)
Zack Snyder's hopes are dashed, with Matthew Vaughn's X-Men film easily taking down the Man of Steel.
13 Blade lost to Iron Man
Iron Man took down Scott Pilgrim last round, and easily accounted for Blade this time.
14 Batman Begins (29) defeated X2 (9)
X2 was unlucky to face Batman Begins this early, but I think the better film won.
15 The Dark Knight (36) defeated Kick-Ass (2)
Kick-Ass is a great film! But, like The Avengers, The Dark Knight was never going to lose this early.
16 Captain America: The First Avenger (28) defeated X-Men (10)
I'm a big fan of both these films, but still find it surprising that The First Avenger won by this much. Think X-Men is vastly underrated.
